A better night - no sore throat and rain has eased off a bit. Did sleep better. Cold has gone to the next stage - sniffly nose - one more day. Rain started to build - was looking at forecasts and maps to go south. Not feeling up for a drive - stay here until the cold has gone
Did get out for a walk - drove to the start - first photo is the symbol of Seven Mile Beach NP - native violet
Walked in on a different access path from the parking spot - found some greenhood rosettes
A day for mushrooms - no surprise after all the rain
All sorts of shapes and colours

First of the acianthus orchids for the season - pixie caps orchid
Buds on helmet orchids are a bit further developed - can see the spots now

Had done the leech proofing - tuck pants into socks - only made it above boot line. 7 found on boots at home. Good to get out walking and not needing an umbrella

I'm just a lil bit confused if those mushrooms are edible?
The pictures are truly beautiful, the purple flower looks the same to my orchid here.
Some of the mushrooms will be edible. I am not going to try until I walk with an expert.
As to the purple flower. An orchid has 3 sepals (they fold out from the outside) and 3 petals (the 3 on the inside). Often one of those petals is a bit more flash - to attract insects to land there. I call it the landing petal - the books say labellum. The next key is the sexual organs are combined into a single column - all other flowers have two parts that have to come together.
