Wiloughby Park afternoon and sandstone sculptures : September 22 2024

in Actifitlast month (edited)

Another different day lined up. Birthday lunch for my wife put on by her son in their local park. We got there around 1pm - fabulous still day set up the shady trees.

Lovely park for oupa and Ollie to play and to give his parents a bit of free time. We chased the magpies, climbed the steep bits, went up and down the slides, chaed the sacred ibis.

Quiet time watching Bluey on the phone for a bit. Then played hide the phone.

Meanwhile Byron cooked prawns and scallops and blue swimmer crab on the BBQ

I went for a walk down the paths to Flat Rock Creek. A lot of the design was modelled on Taronga Zoo - chimp statue in sandstone

Elephant

Moreton Bay fig

Back view of the incinerator

View down the grand path with rest points built in. Going to guess the trees were small when it was built

Interesting colours across the creek - red and green

The kids I met on the track all talked about the cave - here it is

Then I found the cave is called Henry Lawson Cave - no idea why

The ladies sat and chatted for a whole lot longer. I did the driving home.

Made dinner for me. Bbq chicken curry sausages and salad.

Sure pleased I got up to walk when I did - was looking like a 2300 steps day. A tad on the boring side.

Wow. How do you manage to get such many beautiful photos and to walk with your child with only seven and a half thousand steps? This place deserves much more :)

Eyes open. Camera in hand. There is always a good photo somewhere. That walk was all about the afternoon light. It lit up the sandstone

Your child is very beautiful, a beautiful park

Been to the park a few times but it was the first time I walked that extended walk. Really nice and only 10 minutes from the city.
