Boxing Day family walk in full moon: December 26 2023

in Actifit6 months ago

Yesterday was the last opportunity for a family walk. I knew I had a jog scheduled for today and some running around to do last shopping before my journey, so yesterday was THE day!

I moan and asked until my mum finally said YES to the evening walk. I said she hasn’t joined us even once in over 2 weeks that I was here and yesterday was her last chance and finally I managed to convince her to take off those comfy Christmas pyjamas I bought her and change into something she could go for a walk in!

We had a little scare, as it started raining right after my mum changed and even my dad said it was too heavy to go for a walk.

‘Just don’t change back into pyjamas, mum, we’ll wait half an hour and hopefully it will stop by then’ - I said to my mum.

Turned out I had nothing to worry. My mum was checking the weather like a hulk… I mean hawk 😉 and as soon as it was safe to do so, all 3 of us embark on a rather long, 7km walk.

In the business and laziness of Christmas I wasn’t watching the moon, so it was a nice surprise that our walk coincided with the last full moon of this year. It cheered us up and lighted the dark part of our path really nicely.

We had another little scare as the rain picked up a little less than half way through our walk. I said my weather app is not showing any rain for this evening, so it will just be a short spell and I urged my mum not to stop and wait while I take pictures, but keep walking.

She listened and soon enough the rain was over, barely making any marks on our jackets.

Apart from little rain there was almost no wind, which made it for a very pleasant walk.

Towards the end of the walk mum’s hip started to ache, but a sudden encounter with my college friend and a nice conversation distracted her enough to continue to walk.

I also offered my arm for support and both dad and I cheered her on until we completed our long family walk. I had to capture that moment with a selfie of course 🤩

Until next walk 💙

Great stepping there Monika, and fantastic to see you and your parents out for a nice walk, and that the rain mostly behaved as well, thanks for sharing and stay awesome.
