The past couple of days have been pleasantly cool, and I was finally able to turn off the air conditioner, which had been running 24/7 throughout the summer.
Despite not being able to survive without it, I’m actually not a fan of air conditioning 😅. When the cool air hits me directly, it irritates my throat and often gives me a cold. So I usually stayed in a different room from where the AC was running. Thanks to that, I made it through this summer without getting sick!
Today was sunnier and slightly warmer compared to the last two days, but it was still cool enough that we didn’t need the air conditioner. Thursdays are swimming school days for my second son. In July and August, it was just too hot, so we used the bus to get there (though we always walked home since it’s cooler in the evening). But today, the weather was nice enough for a pleasant walk both ways.
On the way there, we walked through a row of crape myrtle trees that are just about done blooming. These trees produce bright pink flowers in summer, and there was one in the garden of my parents’ home as well. You can see many of them lining the streets in my town. Their vibrant flowers brought me energy during the sweltering summer months—but now that it's late September, they're finally coming to an end.
There was a level-up test at swimming school today, but unfortunately, my son didn’t pass. He’s currently practicing backstroke, and apparently, the reason he didn’t pass was that his legs weren’t fully extended. After the lesson, I saw him walking toward the locker room, clearly disappointed.
To make matters worse, after the test, he dropped a piece of candy he got from the coach by the poolside. A boy changing next to him picked it up. My son told him it was his, but the other boy responded, “Then let’s play rock-paper-scissors for it.” My son lost. Kids’ logic can be so unfair sometimes 😅. It ended up being a pretty rough day for him.
The next level-up test is in two months.
The viewing gallery was, as always, hot and noisy. Today in particular, there were two little girls on either side of me, both screeching at the top of their lungs the entire time—it was unbearable. Still, no matter how noisy it gets, I can’t bring myself to say anything. After all, they probably had no choice but to bring their younger siblings with them. That said, having to listen to constant shrieking throughout the lesson really wore me out.
After we got home, I didn’t have the energy to cook, so we just had frozen pasta. My older son was thrilled 😅.

Hello @go-kyo, I remember my childhood... and there were many difficult days too...
Those flowers are beautiful, and by the way, the temperature has dropped here too. 🧊🤣
Best regards. 🤗
