RE: Road trip to Central Tablelands : March 23 2023

Oh hey there. Didn't expect to come across another Aussie when looking through "Created" for new content. :) I'm down in Adelaide. Those floods you guys had up your way were pretty intense. Hopefully things dry out and you get an (appropriate) level of rainfall in the seasons to come.

Sort:

The weather world is on its head. Doubt it has anything to do with climate change. I battled around the Murray river floods in October. The Darling has not flooded like this in 50 years.

Over new year, I drove from Adelaide to Melbourne and back. Over Murray Bridge (a literal bridge, and a town, called the same thing) - we could see the Levee when heading to Melbourne. On the way back, about 8 days later, there was no Levee visible, and the water level was substantially higher.

Nature does some crazy, irrational things that we just cannot fathom.

That floodwater made me change my tour plans around Euroa in October. Took two months for the flood waters to travel 800 kms to Murray Bridge

Hopefully some water can stay in the river system longer term. It will certainly be healthy for the eco system.

This creek flows West to the Darling/Murray Basin - will take 6 months to reach the sea. Adding 53% capacity is bad for downstream for years and years.
