I had ample opportunity for steps today! My day started early with errands and I brought my do along, intending to explore a new park if I found one, and sure enough there was a park I hadn’t been to before right on my route.
Come along, I will take you on a little tour. First, did you notice the featured image? Everything about the park is devoted to dogs - even the design of the benches.
Here’s the sign at the park entrance.
We entered the park by crossing a long bridge through a marsh. I could instantly see that they had created the bridge to ensure visitors wouldn’t have to wade through mud, weeds and tall grasses.
When we got closer, we could see there was a shaded space, and a lot of people were huddled there out of the sun while their dogs ran and played.
This was very different my the park where I usually go - a wildlife refuge with many wild trails. No one sits! Everyone is walking!
The most interesting thing about their weed control program was that they had covered a huge amount of the area in AstroTurf from a football field!
The artificial turf covers an entire play area and agility course as well as a small dog play area.
I asked the people huddled in the shade if there were any walking paths. They pointed to the outer perimeter and Zoey and i went exploring. The paths are formed by someone going around on a riding mower to cut swaths through the tall grass!
Anyway, we had a nice time and met a lot of dogs and got some exercise!
Later I did some gardening, but it was a super hot day! So i wasn't out for long.
