I had a great round of disc golf this morning playing with my son and a friend. I scored a -1 and felt like I could have done better with just a bit more concentration on my drives.
I've been watching Kona Panis playing in the recent disc golf tournament and have been very impressed with her putting style. Everything just flows well together and the weight transfer and follow through looks like some kind of martial artist in action.
I've been working on my Kona Panis inspired anhyzer putt. I'm not really that good at it yet but I made a seventy foot putt for a birdie today using that techneque. I'm typically a hyzer putter but a may be switching around a bit more, at least in order to scramble better in places where my usual putt will not work. I would also like to work more on a straddle putt - I find that comes in handy too but I can't do it very well.
I've heard some people suggest that you don't change your putting style much but I'm not sure if that is good advice for me. It seems like having a variety of different ways to do something is helpful for the situation. It feels kind of like mostly using a backhand drive but still knowing a forehand well enough to use it if need be.
It was frosty out on the disc golf course this morning:
Tonight's dinner:
Here's some very nice coverage of a recent disc golf tournament:
(I had nothing to do with the production of the video and are sharing the link under the Youtube license.)
After watching this I had to go out and get a Kona Panis signature disc. She is my disc golf inspiration right now.

Yeah we were 25 last night. Looks like you got a proper frost! We are warming tomorrow tho! Thankfully.
BTW I really like the looks of your dinner. Those wide noodles are yummy!
Those wide noodles came from Costco. They do come in handy for different dishes and tasted great.
That video was interesting to watch. I've seen disc golf baskets years ago at a local park, but never saw anyone playing when I was there. What is funny, in looking at the basket, I thought you had to get it into the circle on the top and thought that must be hard. Now I know that is not how it is ! Learned something new today.
Disc golf has gotten a lot more popular recently. I've landed a few putts on top of the basket but unfortunately that does not count and you have to drop it in the basket. I sure seems like it should since it is a lot harder to get one to stick on top.
It does seem like you should get to subtract a throw/point if it lands there....LOL
We need a new rule !
Oh!! That disc that went off into the woods! I would be crying in my milk right about now. Seriously, I remember when I moved to the area the first time around and they had a disc golf course and I didn't even know what it was. It has increased in popularity 1,000% since then and really encourages people to make a daily/weekly practice and what a great way to meet new people.
How many discs do you have now? :))
The video was cool! Thanks. She has a real arm on her!
The lost Sword disc kind of went past the woods and sailed into the swamp. Maybe when things dry out a bit more I'll look for it again. I found my lost Tern disc months later after it landed in some tall grass on the same course.
Disc golf is a really good way to meet some new people and exercise daily. I always want to get out there even in some questionable weather.
I have about 40 discs in reserve and 22 in bag now. So sixty two with a couple of new ones on order. I keep cycling them in and out of the bag depending on weather conditions but there are a few I don't ever throw.
I love watching the pro players play. It gives you some tips on how to improve your game just by watching.
Wow! That is a lot of discs! But, I know what you mean as they each are so unique. I love watching the pros too. I learn little things that really help improve my skill. I used to watch a lot of tennis and golf. :)
