„The Obelisk Beyond History“ as the Bosnian conceptual artist Braco Dimitrijević calls it is located in the north-eastern part of the Charlottenburg Palace Gardens in Berlin, where it can be visited during daylight hours, all year-round. It’s an officially funded monument, among others by the Berlin Lottery Foundation. The inscription on the base of the monument reads „11 March - This Could be a Day of Historical Importance“ in four languages: French, English, German and Croatian. This eponymous date, todays date by the way and it‘s the 71st day of this year, because we have a leap year, was chosen by a casual passer-by, Peter Malwitz. The artist encountered him by chance somewhere on the streets of Berlin and March, 11th is Malwitz‘ birthday. So if this arbitrarily chosen date stimulates your contemplation about the essence of historical significance the artist achieved his goal.

PS: This date marks the day when Lithuania declared independence from the Soviet Union as one of many examples, as @onealfa might know 😉🤙🏽
