I got to realize that once you open the Actifit app and the steps start counting after a while the app stops working thereby automatically stopping the step counting.
Throughout the day, I had to login several times just for the app to work which was bizarre and annoying at the same time.
I would suggest you discuss this issue with Actifit Team. We have both telegram and discord accounts where you can discuss it...
