My Actifit Report Card: March 29 2025

in Actifitlast month

Today was a productive day. We visited my home for the first time in more than five years.

Parents have completely moved out. They did a pretty good job talking everything out of the house. There are quite a few things to get rid of that are laying around the property, but overall, the place looks good.

My father did a good job taking care of the landscaping on the property, but the house definitely needs a lot of work.

The roof needs to be replaced, and the home has a built-in gutter system, which needs to be retrofitted to a more modern 5-k gutter system.

Some of the siding of the house has rotten out and needs to be replaced. Decorative house beams have rotten out and need to be rebuilt or cut off.

The deck surface and support beams are completely gone. It would need a completely new deck.

The fence is totally rotten, but I have talked to the neighbor, and he preliminary agreed to split the cost of a new fence.

Though I would need to take out some bamboo that the previous owner put in more than fifteen years ago.

The house would need to be repainted inside and outside. The carpet would have to get replaced.

I am not going to deal with the outdated kitchen or bathrooms. There is just so much you can do to make it ready for the sale.

It was a beautiful and sunny day. My wife made us some food to eat, which was really helpful as we were there for over four hours.

This report is for yesterday, where I got over ten thousand steps, but today, I'm was doing all that walking, so I am probably at a record since I started tracking actifit steps.

Images in this post are from my walks around downtown Seattle.

I must admit that it was a very mixed emotions day. This home used to be my dream home. My son grew up in it from eleven years old to about twenty-three years old.

We sat today in the same kitchen where we sat and drank tea for the first time together the first day we met with my wife.

It was really a bitter sweet moment. But I realize that all of that is in the past, and it is time to move on and selling this home will free us up to begin our next chapter and free us up from the past and a substantial mortgage that is attached to this property.

When one life chapter ends, another begins. Nothing is forever, and we are not forever on this planet.

Have to embrace the challenge and move on to new adventures.

Good words of wisdom here. I find it necessary too to learn the lesson and keep moving forward. Sometimes we just need to learn to let go. Enjoy your Sunday!
