My Actifit Report Card: April 10 2024

in Actifit26 days ago

We were woken up at 3 am by the arrival of fire and police vehicles on our street as the mobile home next to us was on fire.

Not the way we wanted to start our day as it was a poor sleep overall but luckily no one was hurt.
The morning walk was easy since we were still a bit tired but it still was a good 2 miles in very mild conditions (already 60 degrees).
Later in the morning (after some much needed shopping) I headed out to the upper stretch of Lynx Creek to hike once again through the more rugged areas.

The higher elevation at Walker meant the conditions were perfect for a rugged hike heading upstream onto the more 'wild' part of Lynx Creek - although this area saw massive gold dredging up to almost 150 years ago.
As such, the creek is lined with huge tailings piles of rocks left from the dredging that often makes hiking the creek very difficult (although Lulu doesn't seem to have any problems 😀).

In places these piles were over 20 or 30 feet above the present creek and are surrounded by hillsides that climb a few hundred feet upwards.
Quite impressive work a century ago.
We often had to cross back and forth across the creek in order to fund a clear path to continue the hike. In a few places large rock outcrops lined our route forcing us to wade a bit but the creek wasn't deep and Lulu loved the splash.

We covered just over 3 and a half miles before the going became just a bit too tough where we scrambled up the bank onto a faint trail that took us back to the service road where we were parked.
