Here are my week one hundred and seventy five recommendations for Three Tune Tuesday

Drum roll please.....

Kendrick Lamar - Sherane a.k.a Master Splinter's Daughter

Now let me start off by saying, I appreciate that rap is not for everyone. Beethoven is not for everybody either. I happen to like both and every other genre in between, otherthan maybe some Pop music and certain country and western music, but if the music is good, the music is good.

This music is good folks, so even if you don't like rap, listen to the words here and you'll start to appreciate the genius and wordsmanship that Kendrick posseses and sure if you don't like it, coulda, woulda, shoulda. Horses for courses...

I did a series of posts recently about Nick Cave's concept album "Ghosteen". For those who don't know what a concept album is, here is a good definition from wiki:

"A concept album is an album whose tracks hold a larger purpose or meaning collectively than they do individually. This is typically achieved through a single central narrative or theme, which can be instrumental, compositional, or lyrical."

So you don't just skip to your favourite song, which is very difficult for us modern day humans, many of us now have an attention span of about one or two minutes!

My second concept album which I'm going to bring you piece by piece over the next few weeks is "good kid m.A.A.d city"

Let's kick it off with the first song.

Kendrick Lamar - Bitch, Don't kill my vibe

Kendrick grew up in Compton, LA. I've n
been there and worked with a carpenter for a few days and I met some salt of the earth beautiful homily people, but gang culture is part of life there and many young kids get sucked into that get rich quick mirage which tends to lead to death or prison for the majority of young Black men who get hoodwinked into that life.

This album is billed as a "short film by Kendrick Lamar" and that sums it up well, the concept album tells a coming-of-age story about Lamar's adolescence surrounded by gangs, guns, violence, drugs, alcohol. Many of his friends fell into that lifestyle, and Kendrick was lucky to have his pen, which likely saved him from the same faith.

Here is the second song from this Autobiographical album.

Kendrick Lamar - Backseat Freestyle

The diction and cadence here for the third song is off the charts for me. Beware, if you're offended by profanities, maybe skip this one.

Just remember, this is someone else's story, so even if curse words are not part of your vernacular, just accept that for some, it is part of their culture.

Listen and hopefully enjoy folks.

We'll pick it up again next week starting with song four "The Art of Peer Pressure"

Three Tune Tuesday

That's right, it's Tuesday folks and for our merry little band of ladies and lads, that means sharing tunes, good vibes and engagement. As another week disappears in the rearview mirror, we have loads of engagement and tunes flying around on Three Tune Tuesday and sure isn't that bloody fantastic! I hope you're ready to share three tunes from wherever you find yourself on this magical spinning lump of rock that we all call home and sure you might even sing us a tune if we're lucky?

It's a time of the week when lovers of music, tunes and craic bring their blockchain community three of their finest and brightest tunes to share and celebrate, so let's roll on and let the tunes flow free.

This is my 175th week waxing lyrical for Three Tune Tuesday and we are still going strong.

It started off with me just sharing tunes into what seemed like a void, but little by little others joined and now I'm thrilled that we have a little corner of Hive where we come and share our tunes every Tuesday, and long may it continue. I almost stopped posting the songs and thoughts a few times, but I stuck with it and now interestingly it is my favorite thing about Hive. I love music and now I have a network of folks around the world who love music too and we share our tunes and catch up with each others tunes and discuss them each week. We get Pop, Metal, Rock, Gospel, Folk, Jazz, Rap, Hip-Hop, Trip-Hop, Reggae, Bippy bappidy Flange Hop. Ok I made that one up, but you get the idea, we are all learning about new artists, bands, back stories and sure isn't it just mighty!

Something that excites me the most is that we even get musicians sharing their covers of famous songs and even their own songs from time to time here on #ThreeTuneTuesday, which is a real favorite of mine, as that takes talent, time and dedication.

We are adding New posters and retaining our core of regulars here on #TTT which is fantastic. Let's keep it growing. Over the years, I have listened to fantastic music shared from like-minded folk from around the globe and interacted with their posts. This has led me to genres I don't know well and to some amazing new bands and artists and has even introduced me to some musical instruments I did not know existed. It also allows me to upvote smaller accounts and find some really interesting people from all over the world, which is heartening.

I hope you enjoy the tunes - be sure to tell me all about it in the comments below and above all else, please enjoy the rest of your Tuesday - smile at a stranger, rub a dog, be a nice human to someone who was not expecting it - peace out.

For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday....

The jist is as follows

Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize - more on that later.

Cheers man, plan is to go through the album one song at a time like a story as he intended it to be, ie a concept album. Plenty of good songs on it, although "Fuck your ethnicity" from Section 80, which was the first Kendrick song I heard is still a firm favourite of mine.

Congrats on the 175th listened to snippets of sound shared, he is good, not quite my cup of tea as this genre of music is pretty much all we hear here when you switch on local TV or radio.

Ya know something, well done you. I know this is not your cup of tea, but well done on trying to overcome your preconceptions and actually listen to the words and the sentiment of what is being said.

Try to imagine yourself born as a young black male in Compton or Inglewood and what your life may be like.

Interesting thought isn't it...

I could not imagine being a youngster in our country no matter the race today, it is a struggle for too many! Good to listen to younger musicians lyrics, truth comes out more often than not.

Did you hear that Kendrick Lamar will be the headlining artist at the Super Bowl halftime show? I think a rapper who makes you think, question our society, is a rapper to listen to. Regards

I hadn't heard about him doing the superbowl show. That'll be well worth watching, thanks for the heads up.

175th...

Dammit Man !!!

I am still dealing with last weeks #TTT 's ear worms.
