RE: ThreeTuneTuesday - Nostalgia with the great Sublime

in Music3 years ago

Ya man!!!! Sublime were quality, we even heard of them over here in Ireland, one of those under rated bands in my opinion, maybe they were big in USA, but were def more alternative here in Ireland. They have such a fusion of sounds in their songs, like Seed as you describe above. These ones gave me a nice old shot of nostalgia man, thanks a lot.

Though the band has existed since 1988, it wasn't until 1996 that I got to hear about them, when their self-titled third album was released, shortly after lead singer and guitarist Bradley Nowell died of a heroine overdose.

Ya mad how often this happens, takes a death for the music to be really appreciated. Nick Drake is a great example of this, his music was not known at all when he was living and has a huge cult following now over 50 years after its release. If you are not familiar with his music check out the album Pink Moon

Haha, yeah I remember when they were HUGE in the States, and coming back to Germany I was shocked to see that nobody even heard of them. Though I managed to turn most of my friends on to it, it still remained a bit obscure and little known on this side of the Atlantic.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check out some Nick Drake.
