Here are my week one hundred and forty three recommendations for Three Tune Tuesday

** Drum roll please.....**

The National - Smoke Detector

The National brought two new albums out in 2023. Today's three songs are picked from these two albums First Two Pages of Frankenstein and Laugh Track.

This is the last song from Laugh Track and it's probably the best or at least the most raw song on the album. There is Velvet Underground vibe to it, which is no bad thing. Matt Berringer delivers his vocals over some background guitars and it just works.

The National - Once Upon a Poolside

Now that you've had the closing song from Laugh Track, here is the opener from First Two Pages of Frankenstein.

Sufjan Stevens who I featured here a few weeks ago accompanies Matt and co on this one. This one will be great at one of their concerts and I can imagine the crowd singing the words back at the band.

I'm lucky enough to have seen the National lots of times in concert and they know how to put on a show.

The National - New Order T-Shirt

I'll leave ye with this one and let you "carry it like drugs in a pocket"

Matt sure has a way with words. I'll admit these latest songs are not as strong as the older albums, but damn I do still love them. One of my all time favourite bands.

Three Tune Tuesday

That's right, it's Tuesday folks and for our merry little band of ladies and lads, that means sharing tunes, good vibes and engagement. As another week disappears in the rearview mirror, we have loads of engagement and tunes flying around on Three Tune Tuesday and sure isn't that bloody fantastic! I hope you're ready to share three tunes from wherever you find yourself on this magical spinning lump of rock that we all call home and sure you might even sing us a tune if we're lucky?

It's a time of the week when lovers of music, tunes and craic bring their blockchain community three of their finest and brightest tunes to share and celebrate, so let's roll on and let the tunes flow free.

This is my 143rd week waxing lyrical for Three Tune Tuesday and we are still going strong.

It started off with me just sharing tunes into what seemed like a void, but little by little others joined and now I'm thrilled that we have a little corner of Hive where we come and share our tunes every Tuesday, and long may it continue. I almost stopped posting the songs and thoughts a few times, but I stuck with it and now interestingly it is my favorite thing about Hive. I love music and now I have a network of folks around the world who love music too and we share our tunes and catch up with each others tunes and discuss them each week. We get Pop, Metal, Rock, Gospel, Folk, Jazz, Rap, Hip-Hop, Trip-Hop, Reggae, Bippy bappidy Flange Hop. Ok I made that one up, but you get the idea, we are all learning about new artists, bands, back stories and sure isn't it just mighty!

Something that excites me the most is that we even get musicians sharing their covers of famous songs and even their own songs from time to time here on #ThreeTuneTuesday, which is a real favorite of mine, as that takes talent, time and dedication.

We are adding New posters and retaining our core of regulars here on #TTT which is fantastic. Let's keep it growing. Weekly, I try to find four to six hours to listen to all of the fantastic music shared from like-minded folk from around the globe and interact with their posts. This has led me to genres I don't know well and to some amazing new bands and artists and has even introduced me to some musical instruments I did not know existed. It also allows me to upvote smaller accounts and find some really interesting people from all over the world, which is heartening.

I hope you enjoy the tunes - be sure to tell me all about it in the comments below and above all else, please enjoy the rest of your Tuesday - smile at a stranger, rub a dog, be a nice human to someone who was not expecting it - peace out.

For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday....

The jist is as follows

Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize - more on that later.

HBI contest - win 11HBI

It is only when Matt Berninger seems to be telling his stories in a calm and serene way that I really fall into the "Nationalism" trap.😉
If there is too much melody in my ears, I automatically ask myself if I still have the right "Nationalist" orientation?😮

What's your favourite album and song from them out of interest?

I would like to apologise for the delay. As in addition to the #jazz-matinee, the family also demands attention, sometimes a few days can squeeze in between the “should” and the “will”. 😮😉

But now to your question about 'The National'. Which song? Almost impossible to answer, as this decision is probably too much in tune with the mood of the moment. In the end, I went with “Your Mind Is Not Your Friend”. It's the kind of thing that keeps going through my head when I'm writing articles, essays, or prose. 😣
With the albums, it's a similar story. If I judged them by the fingerprints I left on the covers, they'd probably be in this order:
“Trouble Will Find Me” — “The Boxer” — “Sleep Well Beast”.

Interesting choice my friend and never a need for an apology, even if it goes weeks, I know what it's like. We all have busy lives and Hive is just a little part of that, although it is the only social media I bother with anymore. The rest are an utter waste of time in my opinion, as hours and hours can whittle by and what have got after all the scrolling? Are you better or worse than before?

All good albums that you picked, surprised to not see High Violet in there, as it would my favourite, but different stroked for different folks and I do like all those you picked.

Hey, all these songs are great, although the one I like the most is the first one, as the voice says and the guitars sound very good.

How cool to know that we are already on week 143, many more to follow. Hugs @ablaze

Thanks a mil for the kind words and for lending me your ears for a few minutes, I'm glad you enjoyed the tunes. 143 weeks, not out!! Pretty happy with that I must say!

The National huh? Never heard of them. Hey I just realized that you can hit play on @ecency and then listen while you are commenting! Game changer!

Neat spoken word jams that strangely take me back to Leonard cohen and Jim Morrison. I can picture listening to something like this in a rock hall in the big city.

I generally mix my tunes into #thoughtfuldailypost rants rather than make a tunes post but love yours.

Cheers! !BEER

Nice tunes! I've always enjoyed these guys music but haven't heard any in quite awhile. Thanks for some nice songs, the first one is the one I know best. How are things going for you?
