Knife Prty (EN)
I'm going to talk to you today about one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite rock albums in general. As you can see it's about Knife Prty, from the album White Pony of the year 2000...by the great new metal band Deftones. I can tell you a little about his lyrics, although usually the lyrics are the last thing that attracts me to a song, I always get carried away by his melodies and rhythms. In the case of "Knife Prty" there isn't much to see or explain, it's lyrics that basically talk about drugs and sex, like most Deftones songs. The title of the song would be like a kind of euphemism that describes a place, or in this case literally a party where addicts go to get high with syringes using the word "knife" as a metaphor.
What I really like about this song is its melody and nuances, the classic vocal technique of Chino Moreno (vocals). Its heavy melodic rhythm and its strident and beautiful chords. The drums are not far behind, I love the drums on this song, it makes every fill and chime accompanying the rhythm of the voice perfectly. Something that stands out a lot in this song is the scream that is heard in the interlude, a very strident scream but at the same time it carries a melody... I always thought that this scream was made by someone else or it was simply something produced in the studio.. .and it wasn't until recently when I saw in a live video Chino himself doing this scream as it is or even much better than in the studio version, I was impressed. In my version I wanted to emulate this scream, but I could only make a simple melody, I could never do something like that. In fact, this type of shouting is one of the most characteristic techniques of Chinese.
He made a few productions for Hive to which he put a lot of effort and dedication. And I personally feel that this has been the best work he has ever done. Although I can still hear faulty vocally, since I'm not really a vocalist. But believe me, I've put all my effort and passion into it, especially because I love doing this...right now it's 3:30am and I've been working on it since the afternoon, trying to balance every detail in the sound. In addition to the fact that he had already been practicing it for a couple of days.

Les hablaré hoy de una de mis canciones favoritas de uno de mis albumes favoritos del rock en general. Como pueden notar se trata de Knife Prty, del álbum White Pony del año 2000...de la grandiosa banda de new metal Deftones. Puedo hablarles un poco de su lírica, aunque por lo general la letra es lo último de que me atrae de una canción, siempre me dejo llevar por sus melodías y ritmos. En el caso de "Knife Prty" no hay mucho que ver o explicar, es una letra que habla básicamente sobre drogas y sexo, al igual que la mayoría de las canciones de Deftones. El título de la canción sería como una especie de eufemismo que describe un sitio, o en este caso literalmente una fiesta donde adictos van a drogarse con jeringas utilizando como metáfora la palabra "cuchillo".
Lo que en realidad me gusta de esta canción es su melodía y sus matices, la clásica técnica vocal del Chino Moreno (vocalista). Su pesado ritmo melódico y sus acordes tanto estridentes como bonitos. La batería no se queda atrás, me encanta la batería de esta canción, hace cada fill y repique acompañando el ritmo de la voz a la perfección. Algo que destaca mucho en este tema es el grito que se oye en el interlude, un grito muy estridente pero que a la vez lleva una melodía...Siempre pensé que este grito lo hacía alguien mas o simplemente era algo producido en estudio...y no fue sino hasta hace poco cuando vi en un video en vivo al propio Chino hacer este grito tal cual o incluso mucho mejor que en la versión de estudio, quedé impresionado. En mi versión quise hacer una emulación de este grito, pero solo pude hacer una simple melodía, jamás podría hacer algo así. De hecho este tipo de gritos es una de las técnicas más caraterísticas del Chino.
He realizado unas cuantas producciones para Hive a las cuales les he puesto mucho empeño y dedicación. Y personalmente siento que este ha sido el mejor trabajo que he realizado. Aunque aún así pueda escucharse defectuosa vocalmente, ya que realmente no soy un vocalista. Pero creanme que le he puesto todo el empeño y toda la pasión, sobretodo porque me encanta hacer esto...ahora mismo son las 3:30am y llevo trabajandola desde la tarde, tratando de cuadrar cada detalle en el sonido. Además de que ya llevaba un par de días practicándola.
Y ya para no aburrirlos con mas texto, aquí se las comparto con mucho cariño...para los amantes de rock, para que se la puedan tripear. Les envío un fuerte abrazo virtual y deseo que se encuentren disfrutando de un excelente fin de semana decembrino. Rock On!

Definitivamente has dejado mucho de tu esencia en este cover hermano. No pienses que está mal la parte vocal, porque para este género tu voz es perfecta. Al igual que tú, siempre me he dejado llevar por los sonidos, hasta el más mínimo de cada grabación, por eso prefiero escuchar música con audífonos, porque es un momento muy personal. La presentación en blanco y negro es muy buena, felicitaciones por todo el trabajo...
