in Music4 years ago (edited)

Another legend of music has left the stage of life: one of the icons of French Chanson,

Juliette Gréco

Born in 1927, imprisoned during the Nazi occupation, she started singing in clubs and bars in Paris right after the end of world war 2.
Soon she became a star among the big names of French Chanson in the early 1950s, from the 60s on Gréco was also a celebrated actress, working with some of cinema's greats, such as Jean Cocteau and Ingrid Bergman, Orson Welles and Ava Gardner.
She also is known to have "invented" the fashion of wearing black, one of her trade marks.

Some of her songs became icon of French music, like this one, that probably everybody has heard at some point:

After been on stage for over 70 years, she retired with a farewell concert in 2016.
Here a TV appearance in 2015:

She will not be forgotten.
