Another little road tour with my wife done and dusted! It is quite a bit of a drive around for a weekend, and the preparations and rehearsing in the days leading up to the weekend... especially if the concert venues want a full length concert of two halves with an interval (instead of our usual 1 hour single block concerts which are more normal for us...). It just means that there is a little bit more music to learn... and more importantly to select and program!
... and when there is only the two of us on harpsichord and violin instead of an extended band... well, we fear that it can get a bit samey. But we do what we can with the programming to keep it interesting and with a proper development arc across the concert. I guess that is what we are paid to do!
Anyway, our little chariot of choice is the Toyota HiAce... starting to really love this car, it is a bit expensive to run... especially with diesel being what it is. But it is nice to drive, and is a good deal nippier than you would think!
... and a spacious back cargo area to house all the bits and pieces that we need.
So, these weekends are really quite a nice getaway for me and my wife. Dump the kids at the grandparents, and then have a nice road trip together... almost a relaxing holiday, except for the fact that we have to give concerts... but there is something really nice about doing concerts together with your partner in life... even better when it works relatively well as well!
There are very few other people that I would rather play music with...
Anyway.... post tour... and the kids are still at their grandparents, and we have one evening at home before I bounce out again to join a different ensemble on a different project. A movie and a nice nip of Scotch for me... and coffee liquor for her! A musician's life is strange... but I wouldn't trade it for anything else!

Huge congratulations on completing the mini tour, @bengy Road tripping in the Toyota HiAce and sharing the stage with your wife on harpsichord and violin is a truly beautiful experience.
I've never done a music tour, but you would have to get on with the others and I guess you two don't struggle with that. I saw a quote saying playing live is not work, it's the reward for all the work you do otherwise.
My drum teacher has her own big van as she deals with orchestral stuff like vibraphones. My little drum kit fits in the back of our car.
