Recently it was my birthday and because I was involved with university assignments; I couldn't do anything "special".
So, when I saw the opportunity to take advantage of the cultural nightlife of Caracas; I told my sister to accompany me and we embarked on a new adventure.

Our plan was to tour all the stages until we made time and wait for Maracaibo 15; but things don't always go as planned.
We arrived at the first stop; the main stage, located on Transversal de los Palos Grandes Avenue; next to the beautiful Parque Cristal building, which is beautifully decorated with a little tree.

When we arrived, Horacio Blanco, former vocalist of Desorden Público, was singing; luckily, we got a place near the stage to sit down and decided to settle there to enjoy the presentation.

The energy of the people listening to Horacio Blanco's songs was too great; these spaces of relaxation are more than necessary in a city like Caracas; where monotony is the order of the day.
At the end of the presentation; we noticed that people were still arriving and if we moved; we would not find a place as privileged as the one we had gotten, so we decided to stay there; at least until one of us decided to go to the bathroom (something that can not be postponed).

After Horacio Blanco; a Gaita group played; I don't remember the name but they really livened up the atmosphere.
Honestly, my sister and I decided to stay to see the presentation of Maracaibo 15 and Oscarcito.

The former arrived at approximately 12:48am; due to problems with the audio; they took a long time to make their presentation; but Betulio Medina; still has the same talent and voice despite his age.

The playlist included well-known songs such as "18 de noviembre" and "Amparito"; the general mood was one of celebration, joy and nostalgia.
Christmas is a time of forgiveness and family celebration; it makes us think of those who are no longer here and those who had to emigrate in search of a better future.
At the end of the presentation of Maracaibo 15; the general expectation was very noticeable; because the closing would be made by the urban music singer Oscarcito.

Who took the stage at 2:00am and began his presentation with "Loquito de amor"; with the energy and joy that characterizes urban music; as the presentation progressed; we learned two important things:
First, it was his birthday, so the mayor of Chacao decided to give him a cake and that everyone present (approximately 3,000 people) sang birthday to him.
Secondly, his father was seriously ill and he did not know how much time he had left; in spite of that, he decided to make his presentation at the Nocturneando.

After the last thing; Oscarcito burst into tears for a few seconds; his brother entered the stage and tried to cheer him up a little; as well as the mayor; bringing him the cake; but it was useless; so, the mayor encouraged the assistants to sing his birthday to make it up a little.

A nice choir sang him a short birthday song; he blew out the candles and tried to compose himself to continue his presentation; but he looked remarkably sad and disconsolate; in his words "he wanted to sing but his voice wouldn't come out"; so he encouraged the audience to support him with the songs he was missing.

At that point, my sister and I decided to leave, because, although we had waited hours to see him sing, I found it sad that he had to continue with the show despite being in such a discouraging situation as the physical loss of a loved one and even more, of his father.
We left the Nocturneando in a cab and stayed at the home of a relative who lives nearby.

The next day; I decided to check Oscarcito's social networks and in the early morning; he confirmed the physical departure of his dad; possibly, while he was in the middle of his presentation.
It made me think about how selfish and unempathetic we human beings can be with the pain of others; because, the public instead of encouraging him to retire; they asked him to continue singing and I know that artists usually "sign" contracts for their presentations; but, I think that sharing the last minutes of life with someone you love is worth more than fame and all the money in the world....

Anyway, I don't have the full picture to know what really happened; I just thought it was sad.

I agree, with your post, my view is that fans sometimes forget that artists are human too and not every part of their lives need to be with the fans. Being a fan of an artist can be beautiful but also has the expression of being one of the most selfish of loves.

Though I don't only blame the fans for this, record labels themselves are pretty renowned for being bloodsuckers.

Agreed! I'm sure that been a famous it's not that great as it looks; for situations like this when you don't feel good or in the mood of been with your fans.

And yes, sometimes fans forget that even famous people have bad days and they need their space to going through them.
