Hoy les hablaré de Orion, la séptima canción de más 8 minutazos del álbum de Metallica, Master of Puppets. Que me dejó superhipnotizado. En este caso particular, es bastante literal.
Y es que esta canción tiene la particularidad de producir una sensación similar a esa cuando te pierdes en tu mente mirando a las estrellas. Cuando te olvidas del mundo y te adentras entre nebulosas y constelaciones.

Hello everyone, thanks for stopping by once again.
Today I will talk about Orion, the seventh song of more than 8 minutes of Metallica's album Master of Puppets that left me super hypnotized. In this particular case, it is quite literal.
And is that this song has the particularity of producing a feeling similar to that when you get lost in your mind looking at the stars. When you forget about the world and you enter among nebulae and constellations.
INSPIRACIÓN ESTELAR
Como muchos sabrán, esta constelación de estrellas es bastante famosa y con un significado místico, mitológico y religioso en distintas culturas alrededor de todo el mundo.
No es la primera vez que la humanidad se ve inspirada por todos los fenómenos del universo; su inmensidad y misterios aún nos conmueven y nos hacen soñar e imaginar entre cientos de miles de posibilidades.
Y aquí está Metallica, con una canción que hace precisamente eso. Nos acerca a un conjunto de estrellas que le ha dado vida a los relatos, cuentos y teorías de lo más creativas en la historia de la humanidad.
Por ejemplo, tenemos al compositor británico Gustav Holst. Quien compuso en 1918 la Suite de los Planetas, en donde retrata varios de los astros que forman parte de nuestro sistema solar en conjunto con su deidad mitológica grecorromana correspondiente. Una obra en la que se conjugan la majestuosidad material de cada uno de estos planetas combinada con las cualidades de los antiguos Dioses del Olimpo.
STARS INPIRATION
As many will know, this constellation of stars is quite famous and with a mystical, mythological and religious meaning in different cultures around the world.
It is not the first time that humanity is inspired by all the phenomena of the universe; its immensity and mysteries still move us and make us dream and imagine among hundreds of thousands of possibilities.
And here is Metallica, with a song that does just that. It brings us closer to an all-star ensemble that has given life to the most creative stories, tales and theories in human history.
For example, we have British composer Gustav Holst. Who composed in 1918 the Suite of the Planets, where he portrays several of the planets that are part of our solar system together with its corresponding Greco-Roman mythological deity. A work in which the material majesty of each of these planets is combined with the qualities of the ancient Gods of Olympus.

De hecho, menciono a Holst, porque el comienzo de esta canción me recuerda al de Marte, el primer movimiento de la Suite.
Un motivo misterioso que empieza bajo y que progresivamente aumenta en intensidad y presencia. Vale la pena imaginarse a bordo de la estación internacional y ver desde la ventanilla como poco a poco nuestra vista se acomoda hasta coincidir con la imagen de Orión.
Pero es muy curioso, sin embargo, como se llega a coincidir tanto en la descripción que se ha hecho de estas estrellas en distintas civilizaciones y tiempos. Por ejemplo, en la idea de que esta representa la imagen de un cazador.
In fact, I mention Holst, because the beginning of this song reminds me of Mars, the first movement of the Suite.
A mysterious motif that starts low and progressively increases in intensity and presence. It is worth imagining ourselves on board the international station and watching from the window how little by little our sight settles until it coincides with the image of Orion.
It is very curious, however, how the description of these stars has coincided so much in different civilizations and times. For example, in the idea that it represents the image of a hunter.
Y es por eso que el tema principal evoca la actitud agresiva, fría y determinada de un cazador acechando a su presa. Este me tomó por sorpresa mientras realizaba una misión de asesinatos en Assasin's Creed y terminó por complementar toda la experiencia de juego. Una de esas maravillosas casualidades de la vida.
Luego, esta sección es precedida por un tema más tranquilo, “espacial” como lo han definido muchos y que probablemente es el que más justicia le hace a su nombre.
La canción termina con la reposición del tema principal que desaparece paulatinamente, devolviéndonos a la tierra
And that is why the main theme evokes the aggressive, cold and determined attitude of a hunter stalking his prey. This one took me by surprise while performing an assassination mission in Assasin's Creed and ended up complementing the whole game experience. One of those wonderful coincidences of life.
Then, this section is preceded by a quieter, "spacey" theme as many have defined it and which probably does its name the most justice.
The song ends with the reprise of the main theme that gradually fades out, bringing us back down to earth.

I'm going to warn you that we have a bias here. Another reason I like this song is that it has some of the most interesting bass motifs and solos I've ever heard. And I, if you haven't already guessed from my username, play bass. So yeah, not much to discuss there.
