The history
Herwig Mitteregger, Bernhard Potschka and Manfred Praeker met in the political rock band Lokomotive Kreuzberg. Together with Reinhold Heil, then active in the jazz formation Bakmak, and Nina Hagen, they became known as the Nina Hagen Band and released two albums.
After the separation from Nina Hagen, the four musicians, at the suggestion of manager Jim Rakete, conceived the rock opera Spliff Radio Show together with singer Alf Klimek ("Klimax"), German-American DJ Rik De Lisle and singers **Lisa Bialac **and Lyma Russel.
It was premiered live on May 24, 1980 at Berlin's Kant-Kino; it is a "bitter satire on the music business surrounding the fictional rock star Rocko J. Fonzo" and has his rise and fall as its theme.

Ich kriege hierbei immer noch eine Gänsehaut. Leider habe ich Spliff nie live gesehen, habe sie aber früh mit dem ersten beiden Solo-Alben von Nina Hagen rauf und runter gehört. Das geniale Radio-Show Album ist unzerstörbar geil, auch Jahrzehnte danach! :v
This still gives me goosebumps. Unfortunately, I have never seen Spliff live, but have heard them early with the first two solo albums of Nina Hagen up and down. The brilliant radio show album is indestructibly awesome, even decades later! :v
