A continuación les hablare un poco de la canción que compartiré con ustedes esta semana: "Contigo en la distancia"
La canción fue escrita por el Maestro cubano César Portillo de la Luz en 1946. Es una fusión del Jazz y el bolero. En principio, no fue concebido por su autor para lucro personal, sin embargo; su destino era otro.
Cuando el Maestro Portillo tenía 25 años tenía una novia en su país natal Cuba, quien impulsada por la necesidad decidió marcharse hacia Estados Unidos en búsqueda de un mejor futuro que el que ella sentía que tendría si se quedaba. El, como todo enamorado, le pidió de las mil y una formas que no lo abandonara, le prometió que haría todo lo que estuviera a su alcance por su bienestar; sin embargo, no pudo convencerla e igualmente se fue, Fue entonces que, desde ese dolor, con la pena de sentirse abandonado, brota la letra del que tiempo después se convirtiera en un clásico Latinoamerico que, desde su primera interpretación , hecha por el mejicano, Fernando Fernandez (1948) pasando por las grandes versiones del mejicano Luis Miguel, y la estrella del Pop, Christina Aguilera, hasta hoy, sigue vigente en incontables corazones.
Contigo en la distancia ha acompañado a muchos enamorados en sus momentos de tristeza y esperanza dentro de la desolación; y para mi es un verdadero gusto cantarla hoy para ustedes. Deseo realmente que la disfruten.

Next, I’ll tell you a little about the song I’ll be sharing with you this week: “Contigo en la distancia”
The song was written by the Cuban maestro César Portillo de la Luz in 1946. It’s a fusion of jazz and bolero. Initially, the author did not intend it for personal gain; however, its destiny was different.
When Maestro Portillo was 25, he had a girlfriend in his native Cuba, who, driven by necessity, decided to leave for the United States in search of a better future than the one she felt she would have if she stayed. He, like any man in love, begged her in a thousand and one ways not to leave him, promising he would do everything in his power for her well-being; however, he could not convince her, and she left anyway. It was then that, from that pain, with the sorrow of feeling abandoned, the lyrics of what would later become a Latin American classic sprang forth; a song that, from its first performance by the Mexican singer Fernando Fernández (1948), through the great renditions by the Mexican singer Luis Miguel and the pop star Christina Aguilera, remains alive in countless hearts to this day.
“Contigo en la distancia” has comforted many lovers in their moments of sadness and hope amidst despair; and it is a true pleasure for me to sing it for you today. I truly hope you enjoy it.
