En estos días me encontraba viendo una película totalmente random, lo relevante acá es que fue gracias a ella que me puse a pensar lo importante que es la música en el desarrollo de la historia de un film. Eso que conocemos como bandas sonoras es lo que hace que las tramas cobren diez veces más importancia y logren que el espectador se conecte de una mejor forma con lo que está viendo.
These days I was watching a totally random movie, the relevant thing here is that it was thanks to it that I started to think about how important music is in the development of the story of a film. What we know as soundtracks is what makes the plots become ten times more important and makes the viewer connect in a better way with what he is seeing.
La música es capaz de jugar un poco con nuestras emociones, hacernos recordar cosas, hacer mucho más marcadas algunas escenas o pasajes de la película y hasta nos ayuda a crear conexiones más arraigadas con los personajes. En otras palabras es un elemento que está ahí y que muchas veces comienza a funcionar de forma inconsciente, así de poderosa es la música. Por lo que hoy decidí compartir algunas de las bandas sonoras más impresionantes que hay dentro del séptimo arte, veamos que tal.
Music is able to play with our emotions, make us remember things, make some scenes or passages of the film more marked and even help us create deeper connections with the characters. In other words, it is an element that is there and that many times begins to work unconsciously, that's how powerful music is. So today I decided to share some of the most impressive soundtracks that exist within the seventh art, let's see how it goes.
- Gladiador/Gladiator - Hans Zimmer.
Creo y sin miedo a equivocarme que estamos ante una de las mejores bandas sonoras en la historia del cine. Hans Zimmer es un absoluto genio de la composición y en esta oportunidad junto a la voz de Lisa Gerrard crearon un ambiente melancólico y hasta épico el cual acompaña casi en toda la película. Los dos ejemplos que les compartí es precisamente eso, como dos piezas musicales nos pueden cambiar el humor y la forma de ver las cosas en segundos. La primera es quizás de las mejores composiciones de Zimmer por lo desgarradora y profunda que es, la segunda es más esperanzadora y grandiosa; es que la voz de Gerrard es increíble. Con esta banda sonora fácilmente puedes llorar y estar enérgico en nada y esa es la magia de la música.
I believe, and without fear of being wrong, that this is one of the best soundtracks in the history of cinema. Hans Zimmer is an absolute genius of composition and in this opportunity together with the voice of Lisa Gerrard created a melancholic and even epic atmosphere which accompanies almost the entire film. The two examples I shared with you are precisely that, how two pieces of music can change our mood and the way we see things in seconds. The first one is perhaps one of Zimmer's best compositions because of how heartbreaking and deep it is, the second one is more hopeful and grandiose; Gerrard's voice is incredible. With this soundtrack you can easily cry and be energetic in no time and that's the magic of music.
- Braveheart - James Horner.
Otra banda sonora que a pesar de que no es tan conocida la considero de las más emocionantes que hay. La escogí porque es una que complementa muy bien lo que es la historia con la trama, es decir, a lo largo de la película vemos como la música tiene una gran influencia escocesa (con el sonido típico de la gaita o cornamusa) pero con el toque dramático característico de esta historia. Por algo el estadounidense estuvo nominado a los Oscar con estas piezas que realmente son obras de arte y es que las escuchas y como se dice coloquialmente "se te ponen los pelos de punta". Cuando la música es capaz de hacer sentir eso a una persona es porque realmente está haciendo el trabajo.
Another soundtrack that even though it is not so well known I consider it one of the most exciting there is. I chose it because it is one that complements very well what is the story with the plot, that is, throughout the film we see how the music has a great Scottish influence (with the typical sound of the bagpipes or bagpipes) but with the dramatic touch characteristic of this story. There is a reason why the American was nominated for an Oscar with these pieces that really are works of art and you listen to them and as they say colloquially "it makes your hair stand on end". When music is able to make a person feel that way, it is because it is really doing the job.
- Titanic - James Horner.
Ya que empezamos con Horner pues sigamos con él. Con esta banda sonora si ganó el premio Oscar y miren que estuvo bien merecido. Lo que parece increíble es que a partir de un tema central, que en este caso es My Heart Will Go On de Celine Dion, pudo crear una ambientación para cada momento de la película, desde las escenas más tranquilas y románticas hasta las más catastróficas y nostálgicas y es que la capacidad que tuvo Horner para musicalizar este evento triste de la historia es de las mejores cosas nunca vistas en el cine, tanto que con el solo sonar de una flauta te puede hacer soltar una lagrima muy fácilmente. Por algo hoy en día esta banda sonora sigue siendo sujeto de culto y reconocimiento por millones de personas.

What seems incredible is that from a central theme, which in this case is My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion, he was able to create a setting for every moment of the film, from the quietest and most romantic scenes to the most catastrophic and nostalgic and Horner's ability to musicalize this sad event in history is one of the best things ever seen in cinema, so much so that with just the sound of a flute you can easily shed a tear. That's why today this soundtrack is still a subject of worship and recognition by millions of people.
- The Good, The Bad and The Ugly - Ennio Morricone.
Estamos ante una de las grandes eminencias de la composición en el cine y por supuesto ganador de un premio Oscar. Es muy probable que muchas personas no hayan tenido la oportunidad de ver esta gran película pero estoy seguro que muchos si habrán escuchado estas dos piezas que les comparto y es que es una de las más conocidas e imponentes del cine. Son musicalizaciones que engloban muy bien lo que es la historia de estos tres buscadores de tesoros ya que casi todo esto se desarrolla en el "viejo oeste" por lo que al escuchar estas piezas con su compases tan únicos inmediatamente te vas a teletransportar allá y es precisamente ese detalle lo que hace que esta banda sonora sea tan épica y de las mejores del cine.

- Star Wars: Episodio IV - John Williams.
Hemos llegado al que muy probablemente sea el mejor compositor de bandas sonoras que ha conocido el mundo. Pero entre tanta música que ha compuesto me he decido con una de sus obras maestras la cual lo llevó a ganarse un premio Oscar; siempre mencionó esto pero es que se supone que es el premio encargado de enaltecer a los más grandes y Williams lo es. Para mi una banda sonora a la altura tiene que ser una que con la que sucedan varias cosas: que perdure en el tiempo, que despierte emociones sin importar los años que hayan transcurrido y que exista una conexión innegable entre música/personajes.
We have arrived at what is probably the best soundtrack composer the world has ever known. Siempre he pensado y dicho que la capacidad imaginativa acompañada con una destreza musical única que tienen que tener todas estas personas que les muestro en esta publicación ha de ser del más allá. No es solo saber de música o tocar un instrumento, es tener la inteligencia y el talento para hilar escenas, personajes y tramas con notas musicales y eso amigos, es increíblemente difícil y complicado. Es por eso que esta música nos atrapa tanto, porque está tan bien hecha que nos llega todos los sentidos.
I have always thought and said that the imaginative capacity accompanied with a unique musical skill that all these people I show you in this publication must have must be beyond. It's not just about knowing music or playing an instrument, it's about having the intelligence and talent to weave scenes, characters and plots with musical notes and that, my friends, is incredibly difficult and complicated. That is why this music captures us so much, because it is so well done that it touches all our senses.
