As you can hear in this video, our last concert with Brazilian conductor Bruno Procopio went great. The central act was the music of Mozart, which you can appreciate towards the end of the video I share with you above, as the Simon Bolivar Baroque Orchestra performed Symphony No. 41 in C Major, Kv 551, and after a brief intermission we and my fellow soloists entered to sing and play the Coronation Mass in C Major, Kv 317, one of my all-time favorite works. The surprise for the audience, and I think for ourselves, was that the Maestro wanted to close the concert with choral arrangements from his country.
Como pueden escuchar en este video, nuestro último concierto con el Director Brasileño Bruno Procopio salió genial. El acto central fue la música de Mozart, lo que pueden apreciar hacia el final del video que les comparto arriba, ya que la Orquesta Barroca Simón Bolívar interpretó la Sinfonía N° 41 en Do Mayor, Kv 551, y luego de un breve intermedio entramos nosotros y mis colegas solistas para cantar y tocar la Misa de Coronación en Do Mayor, Kv 317, una de mis obras preferidas de siempre. La sorpresa para el público, y creo que para nosotros mismos es que el Maestro quería cerrar el concierto con unos arreglos corales de su país.
At least once a year we have to sing something in Portuguese, as well as French, although that language is more frequent, and particularly they are the ones I have the hardest time pronouncing, and we have even sung in Russian, but with all the love I put into my work it was inevitable to fail, I don't know about the rest of my classmates? But I was very happy with what was achieved and watching the videos recorded by our mothers I see that in general everything went well. The orchestra itself did not expect that they would have to be sitting in front of us to make that closing concert so different from Mozart, but it was worth it and it was the grand finale that the public expected from a guest artist from Brazil.
Al menos una vez al año tenemos que cantar algo en portugués, igual que el francés, aunque ese idioma es más frecuente, y particularmente son los que más me cuesta pronunciar, y eso que hemos cantado hasta en ruso, pero con todo el amor que le pongo a mi trabajo era inevitable fallar, ¿No sé el resto de mis compañeros? Pero quedé muy contento con lo que se logró y viendo los videos que graban nuestras madres veo que en general todo salió bien. La misma orquesta no se esperaba que tendrían que estar sentados frente a nosotros para hacer ese cierre de concierto tan distinto a Mozart, pero valió la pena y fue el gran final que el público esperaba de un artista invitado desde Brasil.

I think Mozart's symphonies, without exaggeration, are very easily identifiable by their epic quality. Regardless of who performs them, you can already feel the atmosphere of his art, which continues to bring us joy through performances as majestic as this one 🔥🔥🔥

Ah ok jajajaja... Siempre doy los créditos por ahí en el post a nuestras mamás que son las que graban, o los mismos chicos de la coral que están enfermos y les toca grabar o pasar los subtítulos. Casi nunca sabemos quienes graban, solo nos pasamos los videos entre todos, es una recolección que dura días 😅 Los de la gira sí son archivos de la coral.
Si, pero y cuando no están ellas? Siempre me pregunto si tenés un doble... que es broma!!! jajaja

What an amazing experience that must’ve been! I can imagine how powerful the Mozart pieces sounded live, and ending with Brazilian choral arrangements must’ve been such a unique and beautiful surprise. Congrats to you all!
