So, I have a set of twin sisters. They're in their early twenties, and one of them made me fall in love with Yemi Alade's songs. Oh yeah, they're the type who mostly do gospel music, but whenever it comes to Yemi Alade, one of them doesn't joke with her songs — especially the ones that were released way back when we were still living together in the family house.
In today's #ttt, I'll be sharing some of Yemi Alade's tracks.
Oh My Gosh:
My sister, who used to query me about how bad it is that I put my favourite songs on repeat, always did the same with this track. Whenever we finished working on the farm and wanted to take a rest in the farm hut, she would put this song on repeat, and it would play until we returned to work. You know, there's always a magnetic influence in a particular track when it's played excessively. Yeah, after a while, when the trend of the song had died down, I got to like the song, and it always reminds me of her.
Crazy Love by Flavour and Yemi Alade:
This is another song she played so much, and I won’t lie — I joined her in playing the song during those moments because the song is calm and danceable, with a touch of Igbo highlife style. Yeah, Flavour owns this song, and he featured Yemi Alade — and the two of them nailed it.
Akwaba, AFCON 2022 Theme Song featuring Yemi Alade:
I'm a big-time lover of the African Cup of Nations, and for Yemi Alade to be featured in the theme song — oh my God! I just love her!
The song, though the tournament has passed, is one I still play to reminisce about the memories that the tournament gave us. We (Nigeria) nearly won the tournament.
Anyways, the song is a big vibe, and it tells a lot about the joy of being African and loving football.
