Ecalisja en la Iglesia de la Candelaria | Laudate Dominum

Hola, Queridos Hivers!

Hello, dear Hivers!

Last Saturday, along with Ecalisja, the church choir I belong to, we sang at the famous Candelaria Church, and it was a wonderful experience!

1001597861.jpg

We met at 3 pm to warm up our voices and rehearse some of the more demanding pieces in our repertoire, and then, about 15 minutes before 5 pm, we entered the church.

We sat in an orderly fashion on one side of the church, decided how we would line up, and waited for Mass to begin.
Something that makes me really happy is that I now consider all my fellow choir members friends, so the waiting and rehearsals are even more enjoyable. 🥰

I had two solos for this Mass: the Laudate Dominum, which I usually sing, and a new one I was assigned to learn, Anima Christi by Marco Frisina. So I was nervous, especially about the second one.

The time arrived, the bell rang announcing that Mass was about to begin, we lined up, and we started with the entrance hymn.

It was a beautiful Mass! Everything sounded wonderful, the church was full of worshippers, and something very special about this church is that the remains of Saint José Gregorio Hernández are there! What a joy to have been called to sing there!

Here's a short video of one of the pieces we performed.

Grateful to God, to Dr. José Gregorio Hernández, and to you for reading! 💜
