Para los que no la conocen Olivia Rodrigo es una actriz conocida por series de Disney y quien este año se ha lanzado como cantante y compositora, su nombre comenzó a obtener más relevancia luego del lanzamiento de ‘drivers license’ a principios de este año. La canción generalmente obtuvo críticas positivas y finalmente ocupó el primer lugar en el chart de radio de Estados Unidos Top 40 por cinco semanas consecutivas.
For those who don't know Olivia Rodrigo is an actress known for Disney series and who this year has launched herself as a singer and songwriter, her name started to get more relevance after the release of 'drivers license' earlier this year. The song received generally positive reviews and eventually topped the U.S. Top 40 radio chart for five consecutive weeks.

Una cosa que me encanta de Olivia es lo reales y perfectamente crudas que son sus letras. No dice las cosas por decirlas, dice lo que siente, su corazón está roto en esta canción, y puedes sentirlo de verdad. Lo más desgarrador de esta canción es que se nota que se emociona mucho mientras canta, se puede escuchar en el puente. Esta canción no sólo es increíble porque es lírica y musicalmente genial, sino que es hermosa porque hay mucha emoción cruda invertida.
Esta es definitivamente una de mis canciones favoritas del álbum, tengo que confesar que llore con esta canción a pesar de nunca haber estado en una relación lol.
In "traitor" Olivia talks about how right after their relationship ended the guy was immediately dating someone else and when they were together he would always tell her that she was paranoid and that nothing was going on between him and this other girl, but now she realizes that something did happen when they were still together, because she finds it suspicious that he got over her so quickly and started dating the girl she suspected, this indicates that he had already talked or maybe something else with this other girl, while he was still in the relationship with Olivia.
One thing I love about Olivia is how real and perfectly raw her lyrics are. She doesn't just say things for the sake of saying them, she says what she feels, her heart is broken in this song, and you can really feel it. The most heartbreaking thing about this song is that you can tell she gets really emotional as she sings, you can hear it in the bridge. Not only is this song amazing because it's lyrically and musically great, but it's beautiful because there's so much raw emotion invested.
This is definitely one of my favorite songs on the album, I have to confess I cried to this song even though I've never been in a relationship lol.
3. Drivers License

This song touched my heart from the first listen (or should I say first view because I watched the music video first, due to curiosity because everyone was talking about this song). "Drivers licence", focuses on a heartbroken girl (meaning Olivia) trying to get over her ex who has already moved on with a new girl.
4. 1 step forward, 3 steps back
Esta canción trata sobre una relación tóxica, pero ella se engaña a sí misma y piensa que no lo es. Lo convencieron de que hizo algo mal y lo arruinó todo. Pero ella ama tanto a esa persona que se emociona por la incertidumbre de lo que sucederá ahora, si él la tratará bien esta vez o no y se pregunta nuevamente qué hizo mal, llegando a la conclusión de que quizás no es su culpa; pero aun así no entiende qué pasa por la mente de la otra persona.
This song is about a toxic relationship, but she deludes herself into thinking it's not. They convinced him that he did something wrong and ruined everything. But she loves that person so much that she gets emotional about the uncertainty of what will happen now, whether he will treat her right this time or not and wonders again what she did wrong, coming to the conclusion that maybe it's not her fault; but still she doesn't understand what's going on in the other person's mind.
5. Deja Vu

In the lyrics of "Deja Vu," Olivia sings about an ex who does the exact same thing he did with her, only with a new girl. I don't have much to say about this song, I just loved it.
6. Good 4 u
Fuente"Good 4 u" habla sobre sentirte terriblemente mal tras terminar una relación, mientras que la otra persona parece no importarle y que ha salido adelante bastante rápido.

Para no hacer esto tan largo, ella está enojada con su ex por haberla superado tan rápido y haber conseguido una nueva novia, cuando ella aún no lo puede superar a él, es como si su ruptura no hubiera tenido ningún efecto adverso en él personalmente.
To make a long story short, she is angry at her ex for getting over her so quickly and getting a new girlfriend, when she still can't get over him, it's as if their breakup hasn't had any adverse effect on him personally.
7. Enough for you
En "enough for you" Olivia describe cómo se esforzó demasiado para intentar ser suficiente para su pareja, comparándose con sus ex, solo para que esta persona la dejara por alguien más. Ella se siente desconsolada, pero sabe que al final, su ex-pareja se arrepentirá de lo que hizo.

In "enough for you" Olivia describes how she tried too hard to try to be enough for her partner, comparing herself to her exes, only to have this person leave her for someone else. She is heartbroken, but knows that in the end, her ex-partner will regret what he did.
The fact that enough for you was written entirely by her and is one of the best lyrically blows me away.
8. Happier

In "happier" Olivia talks about not being able to help but feel some sadness watching someone you loved be happy with someone else, and how you wish they weren't as happy as they were with you, but you know that's not right.
9. Jealousy, jealousy

De todos modos me alegro de que Olivia haya hecho esta canción que demuestra que los famosos también son inseguros y no son perfectos como la mayoría de nosotros los vemos.
The song is really about all the insecurities that come with growing up in the age of social media, including the constant comparisons you make between yourself and others.
Jealousy, Jealousy is so underrated, I haven't really heard many people talk about it, but it's literally my favorite on the album. It talks about one of the most important topics in my opinion, which is the impact of social media on the teenage mind. I struggle a lot with self-confidence and comparing myself to a lot of beauty standards that are unrealistic, so it's the song that relates to me the most, and that's why I love it so much. It's so catchy and really caught my attention, I have no words to describe the bridge and the instrumental behind the second chorus is just a masterpiece.
Anyway I'm glad Olivia did this song which shows that celebrities are also insecure and not perfect as most of us see them.
10. Favorite Crime

En "hope ur ok" Olivia recuerda a algunos de sus viejos amigos que sufrían por culpa de sus padres por no aceptarlos por como son. Lamentablemente ella perdió el contacto con ellos, les recuerda que nada es tan malo como parece y les desea lo mejor. Ella está orgullosa de ellos y los ama.
Me gusta como hope ur ok no es sobre una relación y es sobre sus amigos más cercanos, pienso que es una forma muy dulce de terminar el álbum :)
Puedo reconocer su talento vocal, su buena producción y su forma de componer porque es jodidamente fenomenal. Sin embargo, lo que realmente me enganchó a Olivia fue su capacidad para contar una historia. Todas las canciones tienen una historia, pero cuando las letras se entrelazan con los matices de la canción (como favorite crime "con ojos inocentes mientras me enterrabas" o hope ur ok referencias específicas a personas que significaron mucho para ella) eso es lo que más me gusta. Literalmente, todas las canciones son increíbles por la veracidad de sus letras y por las magníficas armonías y sonidos.
Hace poco leí que dijo que ahora está mucho mejor y que mira hacia atrás y se ríe de lo triste que estaba. Además, no evitó deliberadamente ser muy emotiva porque las adolescentes suelen ser criticadas por ser demasiado emotivas y ella quería mostrar esas cosas difíciles de las que la gente se avergüenza, o rehúye, o trata de ocultar para parecer más madura. Me encanta que sea un álbum para adolescentes. Nada de falsa madurez. También dijo "esto es lo mejor que puedo hacer a los 17 años" y reconoció los defectos del álbum, pero también reconoció que no tiene que ser perfecta desde el principio. Tiene espacio para crecer. Eso se siente como una verdadera madurez.
We end the album SOUR with this beautiful and emotional song that really is perfect to close the album and also brought tears to my eyes.
In "hope ur ok" Olivia remembers some of her old friends who suffered because of their parents for not accepting them for who they are. Sadly, she lost touch with them, reminds them that nothing is as bad as it seems and wishes them the best. She is proud of them and loves them.
I like how hope ur ok it's not about a relationship, and it's about her closest friends, I think it's a very sweet way to end the album :)
I can recognize her vocal talent, good production and songwriting because it's fucking phenomenal. However, what really hooked me on Olivia was her ability to tell a story. Every song has a story, but when the lyrics are intertwined with the nuances of the song (like favorite crime "Doe-eyed as you buried me" or hope ur ok specific references to people who meant a lot to her) that's what I love the most. Literally every song is incredible in the truthfulness of the lyrics and the gorgeous harmonies and sounds.
I read recently that she said she's doing much better now and looks back and laughs at how sad she was. Also, she deliberately didn't avoid being too emotional because teenagers are often criticized for being too emotional, and she wanted to show those difficult things that people are ashamed of, or shy away from, or try to hide in order to appear more mature. I love that it's a teen album. No fake maturity. She also said "this is the best I can do at 17" and acknowledged the album's flaws, but also acknowledged that it doesn't have to be perfect from the start. It has room to grow. That feels like real maturity.

Gran desglose del album. Me gusta mucho la sección de parte favorita. Te felicito por tu capacidad de empatizar con la historia y los sentimientos que se expresan en las distintas canciones aunque no sean experiencias propias. Eso es tener una mente y un corazón abiertos para apreciar el arte.
