Hello, lovely community. Today I want to share some songs with you that, even though they belong to a time I didn't live through, manage to awaken a deep nostalgia in me.
I was born after the 2000s, but I grew up surrounded by music. At home, the sound of the keyboard or electric guitar was part of the atmosphere, thanks to my older brothers. I think that made classic rock stick in my memory as if I had experienced it at the time. Plus, my dad has always been a fan of that genre of music.
Hola, linda comunidad. Hoy quiero compartirles algunas canciones que, aunque pertenecen a una época que no viví, logran despertar en mí una profunda nostalgia.
Nací después de los 2000s, pero crecí rodeada de música. En casa, el sonido del teclado o la guitarra eléctrica era parte del ambiente, gracias a mis hermanos mayores. Creo que eso hizo que el rock clásico se quedara grabado en mi memoria como si lo hubiera vivido en su tiempo. Además, mi papá siempre ha sido un fanático por ese género musical.
And although I wasn't there when these songs came out, I feel that, in some way, we can all connect with them because they speak of universal emotions: rebellion, love, memories, freedom...
Y aunque no estuve allí cuando estas canciones salieron al mundo, siento que, de alguna forma, todos podemos conectar con ellas, porque hablan de emociones universales: la rebeldía, el amor, los recuerdos, la libertad…
1️⃣ We Will Rock You – Queen (1977)
This was the first song I learned, and not exactly for an English assignment, ha ha ha. In middle school, I used to tap out the rhythm with my hands on the tables and sing along with my classmates whenever we didn't have a teacher, just because it was so much fun.
It's a song that not only represents rock music, but also that collective feeling of energy and unity that makes you feel part of something bigger. And I think anyone who hears it, regardless of age, feels that urge to stomp their feet to the beat of the song.
Esta fue la primera canción que aprendí, y no precisamente por una tarea de inglés, jajaja. En la secundaria, solía golpear el ritmo con las manos sobre las mesas y cantar con mis compañeros cada vez que nos quedábamos sin profesor, solo porque se nos hacia muy divertido.
Es una canción que no solo representa al rock, sino también ese sentimiento colectivo de energía y unión que te hace sentir parte de algo más grande. Y creo que cualquiera que la escuche, sin importar la edad, siente ese impulso de golpear el suelo al ritmo de la canción.
2️⃣ Wonderwall – Oasis (1995)
I always heard my dad singing this song. Years later, now I'm the one who sings along with him. There's something about its melody and lyrics that transports you to peaceful days, to those afternoons when you just want to let yourself be carried away by the music. Maybe that's why, even as the years go by, it's still one of those songs that the whole world recognizes from the first chord, as well as being a romantic rock song.
Siempre escuchaba a mi papá cantando esta canción. Años después, ahora soy quien lo acompaña a cantar. Tiene algo en su melodía y en su letra que te transporta a los días tranquilos, a esas tardes donde simplemente quieres dejarte llevar por la música. Quizás por eso, aunque pasen los años, sigue siendo una de esas canciones que el mundo entero reconoce al primer acorde, además de ser una canción de rock romántica.
3️⃣ The Reason – Hoobastank (2003)
Although this one is a little more recent than the previous ones, we have an album by this band at home. My dad used to play it while he was painting the house or fixing something, and without realizing it, I ended up associating that song with doing chores around the house. Now, I'm the one who plays it to clean or concentrate, and it still provokes that mixture of melancholy and tenderness. It's amazing how a song can take you back in time with just a few seconds of playback.
Aunque esta es un poco más actual que las anteriores, en casa tenemos un disco de esta banda. Mi papá solía ponerlo mientras pintaba la casa o arreglaba algo, y sin darme cuenta, terminé asociando esa canción con los momentos de las tareas del hogar jsjas. Ahora, soy yo quien la pone para limpiar o concentrarme, y sigue provocando esa mezcla de melancolía y ternura. Es increíble cómo una canción puede hacerte viajar al pasado con solo unos segundos de reproducción.
Each of these songs has the power to awaken memories, even in those who did not live through that era. I think that's the wonderful thing about music in general: it transcends generations and emotions, and manages to connect hearts that never even met.

Cada una de estas canciones tiene el poder de despertar recuerdos, incluso en quienes no vivieron su época. Creo que eso es lo maravilloso de la musica en general: trasciende generaciones y emociones, y logra conectar corazones que ni siquiera se conocieron.
