Para mi, la música navideña no solo es villancicos y gaitas, (soy venezolano), muchísimos autores populares y artistas de éxito, han escrito y cantado música navideña en diferentes estilos, los invito a un pequeño paseo y verán a lo que me refiero:

The Sonics fue una de las bandas iniciadoras del rock de garaje y el protopunk en los años 60, interpretaron un rock salvaje, enérgico y distorsionado . Siendo sus influencias el rock de Little Richard, Chuck Berry y el R&B de James Brown.

The Killers es una banda de rock alternativo liderizada desde el año 2001 por: el vocalista, teclista y bajista Brandon Flowers y el guitarrista Dave Keuning.
En diciembre del 2006 comenzaron una época de canciones navideñas que duró diez años apoyando a la fundación de conciencia sobre el Sida en África. El grupo dona todas las ganancias de las canciones.
En el año 2016 publicaron el álbum ‘Don’t waste your wishes’ en el cual recopilan sus sencillos navideños.
Don’t shoot me Santa del año 2007 retrata a un Santa Claus malvado que quiere castigar a un niño (Brandon Flowers) que se ha portado mal durante todo el año. En el video, Flowers es rescatado, y huye de Santa.

Corey Taylor, es un músico estadounidense vocalista y compositor de las bandas de Rock Metalico Slipknot y Stone Sour y ha trabajado con bandas tales como Apocalyptica y Anthrax.
En 2010 , lanza un sencillo navideño, dando todas las ganancias a una Asociación contra el cáncer adolescente ( Teenage Cancer Trus). Lo grabó en un día, y lo produjo él mismo, además de tocar la guitarra, el bajo y la batería.

Un gran ídolo mejicano y excelente cantautor José Alfredo Jimenez , el cual le dedico canciones a mujeres tan insignes como María Felix y Lucha Villa, jugo mucho en sus composiciones con el despecho y el desamor y para una navidad compone una canción ranchera en la que le habla a una mujer que le destroza el espíritu navideño : Amarga Navidad.

Estas son canciones navideñas que presentan un punto de vista distinto a los de los villancicos y canciones navideñas tradicionales: ira, enojo, desamor, crítica social, y despecho. Hay temas de corriente Punk, Rock Alternativo, Rock Pesado, Ranchero, y hasta un Aguinaldo.
Me han divertido con sus letras al parodiar estas fechas, el aguinaldo aunque muy famoso me parece triste y desgarrador, la ranchera igualmente muy triste, con mucho sentimiento, (creo que esa era la idea hacernos casi llorar).
Yo soy rockero y repito no por eso dejare de apreciar otro tipo de música. Todas estas canciones son expresiones artísticas que despiertan emociones, sentimientos y en algunos casos buscan concientizar.

Don't Shoot Me Santa.

Don't shoot me Santa from 2007 portrays an evil Santa Claus who wants to punish a boy (Brandon Flowers) who has misbehaved all year. In the video, Flowers is rescued, and runs away from Santa.

These are Christmas songs that present a different point of view than traditional Christmas carols and Christmas songs: anger, rage, heartbreak, social criticism, and spite. There are Punk, Alternative Rock, Heavy Rock, Ranchero, and even an Aguinaldo.
I have had fun with their lyrics parodying these dates, the aguinaldo although very famous seems sad and heartbreaking, the ranchera equally very sad, with a lot of feeling, (I think that was the idea to make us almost cry).
I am a rocker and I repeat that I will not stop appreciating other types of music. All these songs are artistic expressions that arouse emotions, feelings and in some cases seek to raise awareness.
