Today is only one name for all three songs; I am slightly sure you are in the know of it: Radiohead.
Radiohead - Burn The Witch
What this weird video is about? last seconds hint it is about the Government... which is really indestructible. Very cool opener from the band's last released album, which I love both for the video and for the strings avantgarde studio arrangement. I'd be highly intrested to hear your video's interpretation - what do you see in it?
This is what Jonny Greenwood told about creating of the song:
"There’s songs like ‘Burn The Witch’ which, very rarely for us, we managed to get strings on near the beginning. We left it unfinished on purpose and left lots of room for the strings and we never do that usually. Usually the strings are the icing on top. And this time it was there from the start to be more of a feature for what strings can do. At the end of ‘Daydreaming’ I got the cellos to all tune their bottom strings down about a fifth. But then still try to play the music. So it’s you can hear them struggling to stay in tune and you have the low growl sound. That’s the kind of music they play anyway, and just all felt really effortless and exciting. You want to use strings in a way that isn’t just pastiche and that can be hard to avoid. That was fun, trying to square that circle."
Radiohead - 2 + 2 = 5
Have you read '1984' and 'Animal Farm' by George Orwell? Please do - its a must.
Radiohead - Ful Stop
This song has yet to get a proper video... As for its main idea, frankly speaking -- I am not up for analysis or discussions and other TLDR; check the song, all is there. Definitely the second highlight of AMSP album for me. Maybe its a reflection of some mundane everyday experience and some small life incident?.. or maybe Thom Yorke summed up his life in song's lyrics. One way or another, this is drama of the highest probe, and ...
As a bonus, cool fan-made video illustrating how this song can be performed. Instrumental.

I hope you enjoyed today's music selection, and travelling around the globe without leaving the Hive. 😎 The post goes for Three Tune Tuesday challenge run by @ablaze. I know you are a huge Radiohead fan. I really like the first tune the most. The first two videos are very thought provoking and the first video reminds me of speaking out against group think will get you ostrisized. Like being burned at the stake for saying something herectic against the authoritative groupspeak.
Most of all though, both videos get me thinking about the human consciousness and how it can be such a way and what is this place where we are with so much suffering and cruelty as par for the course. Perhaps Buddhism answers it best, without darkness, there cannot be light.
What are your thoughts about the first video? Especially living in what would be considered a more authoritarian regime than most? Reading War and Peace at the moment, I am trying to gauge life in Russia/Prussia pre WW1.

On the first video: someone with 'papers', official authority clerk came for inspection to a small self-governing settlement. This is definitely a check, apparently from higher-ranking structures. A man with a chain - obviously the mayor - takes him around the town to show they are following all the directives (i.e. combat with wrong citizens): witches are examined to see if they drown or not, rituals are carried out with piercing swords (instead of testing needles), someone is locked alive in a house with a cross on the door, etc etc - all these are references to obscurantist medieval practices. I didn’t understand some of the references (picking tomatoes?..) In the end of the video the townspeople (prepared in advance for the inspection) burn this examiner. And the very coda, the punch of it (as I wrote in the post) - the burned man is shown alive... this piece of shit turns out can not be burned in fire! - and most likely he won’t drown in the water either. That's what I see in this video... it's about the opposition of folks to the monster of the state - Big Brother.
That makes sense! It is really all about centralised power structures. I didn't catch the end that he couldn't be burnt alive! I'm surprised they made such an open video for a popular band like this.. lol
Thats quite a separate question. If you'd like to talk that out... I'll be waiting your review of said book then xD
At around 1000 pages and very small typescript, it can take some time! Haha
I've just never found myself able to enjoy Radiohead. I know they're innovative, groundbreaking, influential, and whatnot, but it just doesn't work for me. The first track does remind me a bit of another song more to my musical liking.
What are your musical tastes? give me 4-6 key titles?..
Radiohead run thru a evolution - from raw rock to alternative and more sophisticated - orchestrated sound... and now they have found themselves in the
dumpden of electronic music, boring rhythms and beats (speaking of the band's vocalist). That is, they have pretty different music. But generally speaking, this is minor-key music full of sorrow and drama and obscure cryptic lyrics (although it can be consolative and uplifting for your mind) - it may turn out this is not your cup of tea, as simple as that! Don't worry too much about this. 😌!BEER
My tastes are eclectic. Bluegrass and old-time one day, thrash metal another, bizarre indie experimental later on, and 90s alternative scattered throughout. You'd think I'm the ideal Radiohead fan, but it just never clicked for me in any of their eras.
This sounds good to me. In other words, 'you can find beauty in different places'. 🎈

Yaw, thanks for the !PIZZA - arrived directly at my breakfast time 😍 The video... they were out-sourcing its production, ofc. ANd the studio that made all the dolls (models) and the animation, reported they had very burning deadline, due to the reason this was the first promo of the album, its release was firmly scheduled etc etc. So they created it fast - they simply HAD TO, !LOLZ. I am happy you enjoyed it. Lets spread !LUV 🙏

Great to see your post featured by @ourpick! Great song choices with good messages.
I had a mood to listen to my (in the pat) fave band, and these were three random playlist transactions... I have to tell something about most of the songs, but it is of less intrest for common public, not-fans... so let the music speak for itself, was my thought. ☘️ NB: we have nice +25 weather at last, time for summer and walks. !PIZZA
Whenever we feel down, after listening to music, our mood is good again, all the songs are very good.

The first song and video are so lovely. I’m overwhelmed and it was even like a movie
Nice one!
Grazie! it is indeed light and magik .... cartoon-like. 😉
Those were some great choices! I love Radiohead. That first video is obviously very critical of government and all the evils that come with it.
Orwellian 2+2=5... Orwell is a must read for everyone. I still remember the band Oingo Boingo had a song called 1984, saying "wake up it's 1984" and "big brother is watching". We're living in the world he warned about sadly...
Great choices!
