So have they chucked a dtube and popped to their own chain? Or just being like a "normal" video hosting site with hive integration?

Ease of adoption is not a bad thing though.
I think they've had their own coin for a while built on hive. It seems they are trying to be both a gateway for hive with posts able to opt in to being on chain or off based on whether you link accounts
