Hello, everyone! šš¶
Anyone who follows me knows that I'm, among some other stuff, quite involved in music. I make lo-fi recordings of the bands I watch, write about my favorite music in #threetunetuesday, and follow fresh music and discover new bands in #newtunes.
Well, times are changing, and so are people. In recent years, we have even gained access to exceptional tools that enable us to create music, even for those who are less musically educated (which includes me).
And since I'm not a Luddite, I started using them myself. Yes, I'm talking about AI. For me, it's just a tool, an extension of my brain, in the sense that it allows me to expand into areas I've never been to before. Whether this tool will become self-aware or not, what will happen to us humans, I don't know. There is a lot of debate around this, but I don't want to debate about that here and now, just about creating music.

After a year and a half of occasional use of the SUNO platform (because there are so many other things that interest me, haha, and I'm still learning), I've put together an album of stoner rock, purely instrumental, without lyrics or vocals, but maybe that will come later :)
I have no intention of influencing music fans and their tastes in any way. My goal with this AI-generated music is primarily to see if I can achieve that "stoner feeling" while listening.
So, this is the premiere of Stoner NOW! on the Hive blockchain!

As for the technology, I used several different versions of SUNO AI. Each song is labeled with which version. I used five text prompts; short loop videos for visualization were created in SUNO using text-to-video or image-to-video prompts. Everything was put together in Adobe Premiere.
If you like something, it's OK, if not, forget it and skip it, but I'm open to debate about all of the above in the comments. Individual songs are available in the SUNO playlist.
By the way, this is my second album, I released a year and a half ago Easy Listening

And this:
Did you know that around 112,000 new songs are released daily on global streaming services, not to mention all of them, as of July 2023 Source. Deezer, a smaller streaming platform, reports that it detects around 50,000 songs per day that are AI-generated, as of November this year. Source
If we look at the global picture, 20-30% of new songs are likely made with AI. What implications will this have? It's also a fact, at least as Deezer claims in the link above, that
97% of people can't tell the difference between AI and human-made music.
Thank you for your attention!

"Stoner Rock" ... I had to read such post. Not that I know rock - I hardly do - but I wanted to know what is behind such a title: My first thought: "How are Rock and Weed related? Perhaps some soft rock .. nahhhh can't be soft rock!" .. obviously, what I heard was nowhere close to soft rock.
AI has come a long way - additionally, a recurring theme in my earliest posts to our blockchain here. Perhaps you've seen this post here: https://ecency.com/music/@edje/artificial-intelligence-ai-becoming-real-humans-quality-music-compositions-getting-reality
I strongly believe AI will create much of what people created before, and still many of them do. Whether it'll have a true soul or not, it will pretend to have a soul, a consciousness; it will simulate one. Whether we like it or not, it will happen. We humans just have to deal with such a reality. The other day, I was listening to several tech journalists questioning the fact that so many users say 'thank you', 'good day' and such to ChatGPT in their conversations with 'it'. Already today, in the state AI is, people think about AI not being a pure machine. AI isn't even close to its full potential.
Thanks for the comment. If I take the article and the post you pasted as a cue, it seems to me that it actually confirms what is happening now. But the real momentum for musical AI has come with these large language models (LLMs). There still has to be a human behind it, namely, AI only makes music when you suggest something to it, it doesn't do anything out of pure silence. There are many possibilities yet to come...
Well, I'm more interested in this question: What does this mean for music in general? What will change? Until now, there have only been people on the market, and now there is AI. What will you choose? First, second, both? I'll be mixed: I enjoy listening to music live, where the musicians are a few meters away from me; on the other hand, I like playing with these music machines when they ask you, "What kind of music would you like?" And you define it for him. And he generates it for you. The more detailed you explain it to him, the better the music is generated. That's the feeling I got. But that's subjective. Google Translate also translates this response, maybe he didn't express me correctly, but Grammarly is constantly correcting incorrect commas and periods :)
It is always difficult to predict the future. Though I see the possibility of a world in which nobody has jobs anymore to provide for their families. The system provides, in some way. People do like entertainment, creativity and perhaps art. We'll perhaps see much of such creativity in our cities, neighbourhoods and streets. While technology first brought local music (before we could spread it through Vinyl) global, AI may drive human musicians from global to local again. Why would we watch some band, singer, musician on screen when AI can do the 'same'? But being local in a pub or town square with human musicians is something unique. Unless robots will become as good, or perhaps better, than Rachel in Blade Runner š

I completely agree! There will be more local offerings in places where people hang out, actually global offerings, I think. I live in a small town, but it is a hub for independent and underground music creators from all over the world! šš

Thank you.
Looks like you have cool recordings aah!, Let me check that out.
You're welcome.
Nice post, offers some true and interesting perspective.

Thanks, that's my point about that. We have another player (AI) in the music industry.
We have to accept it that our lives have changed with it, just how we are using it matters now.
Good for you for deciding to unleash your creativity, even if it's with AI support. I'm sure it expresses some of your concerns, and that will make you happy! Hugs!
