Three Tune Tuesday 🎢 The Moody Blues

in Music β€’ 13 hours ago

Hello, music lovers! 🎡

On #threetunestuesday, I reflect on the music I listened to growing up and the music I had access to. And when an event reminds me of moments from my youth, I try to relive those memories through music.
Unfortunately, lately it's mostly been news about the death of some musician :(

Yesterday, I read that John Lodge, singer and bassist of The Moody Blues, who were very famous and successful in my younger years and whom I listened to at the time, had died at the age of 82. So I listened to some of The Moody Blues' songs.

The Moody Blues were an English band from Birmingham, formed in 1964. They achieved success on both sides of the Atlantic and received praise from music critics in 1967 with the release of their second studio album, Days of Future Passed. They were described as a band that combined rock and classical music and as pioneers of artistic and progressive rock. They released 30 singles and 16 studio albums, sold over 70 million records, and stopped performing in 2018. You can read more details about the band on Wikipedia.

For those of you who are not (yet) familiar with #threetunetuesday or #ttt - these are tags you need to set when you post.

It's a music initiative started by @ablaze, and with his words, the jist is as follows:

Every Tuesday, I'm going to share 3 songs that I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the reward.

Some of their songs that I have listened to over the years still sound great to me; even though they are old, they feel fresh.

The Moody Blues - The Story In Your Eyes

The song is from their seventh album, Every Good Boy Deserves Favour, released in 1971, and was a big hit on the singles charts in the UK and the US. The lyrics are metaphorical and melancholic; the story in the eyes is an intimate emotional connection between two people that cannot be explained in words, but emphasizes the power of human connections and faith in a better future.

🎡 🎧 🎡

The Moody Blues - The Voice

The song The Voice is from the tenth studio album, Long Distance Voyager, from 1981. In a progressive rock style, it suggests that an inner voice or intuition guides us through life's internal and external conflicts.

🎡 🎧 🎡

The Moody Blues - Nights In White Satin

Nights In White Satin is their biggest hit, released in 1967 on their second album, Days of Future Passed. Interestingly, it went unnoticed at the time, but in 1972, it was released as a single and became a worldwide hit. It made them legends, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The song is an iconic orchestral ballad, and I'm sure everyone reading this has heard it before.

As a bonus, a live recording, the title speaks for itself.

The Moody Blues - I'm Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band)

That's all for today, thank you for your attention.

This is my 79th post for #threetunetuesday, which @ablaze started.
I hope what I'm sharing is enjoyable for others, too, because then it makes sense.

I always loved Moody Blues, "Knights in White Satin" is such a classic. I remember in the 80's growing up they had their last big hit with "In Your Wildest Dreams", that was the song that introduced me the the Moody Blues! I've been a fan ever since! It was shame to hear that Justin Hayward just passed away as well. They have all pretty much passed on now! But such ethereal and classic rock, it's sad to see such legends moving on...

Thank you. I'm glad you like it. I also listened to The Moody Blues a lot when I was younger. I always associated them with romance. 😎
