Instruments and Sounds

As I sat watching the rain from the window of my room, locked so the raindrops wouldn't be let in.
I cranked my volume up high on my phone's speakers and nod my head to the soft smooth flow of the jazz saxophone....

Sike!!!

To be honest that would have been the perfect ideal start to my morning except...

  1. When it's raining, I don't sit watching the rain... I sleep.
  2. I don't listen to pure jazz, I find it boring and too slow. It needs to have a beat, and a beat that hits!!!

That's why instead of the traditional Jazz musicians like Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis and Ella Fitzgerald who all have beautiful songs and are wonderful artists...
I'm more into Afrobeats, contemporary and other likes!!

Robbers, Thugs and Muggers ~ Tony Allen ft Hugh Masekela

This is an artist I haven't written about before and is one I actually just found about today.
Tony Allen is probably the greatest drummer ever seen and as I listen to this song, for one who doesn't actually have a fine ear for drums, I can hear the difference.

This song is quite an easy listen, to be honest I haven't seen something that builds the vibe to dance in me like Fela but at least this one is something I can regularly listen to.
Tony Allen, a beast that stayed with music till he died✨🥁

Ye ~ Burna Boy

Now I know this is a bit of a stretch but hold on lemme cook...

For those that follow Burna and listen to his songs you can clearly here the jazz and pure afrobeat mixtures in it and it shone exceptionally in this one tune.
Ye is an all-time classic, one in which the instrumentals stick to you especially the voice riff.
Give it a listen and note the beat, the piano and the nearly silenced and serene saxophone!.

Everything Scatter ~ Fela Kuti

Fela does something with his music. Everything ensnares you from the instruments to the lyrics and the silence, everything pushes to a required effect.
In this song, it's composition is everything.
The song moves with the theme of a riot, telling us about how Fela witnessed a fight start in the bus, how it comically escalates and reaches the police station.

The impressive part about this song though and the main theme of this post isn't the lyrics itself, but the instrumental composition.
We have the instruments come in one by one, then blend in such a way that it showcases the riot itself.
It's just so beautiful to listen to.

These are my entries for @ablaze's #threetunestuesday .
Join in the fun, share three tunes, and you just might win some cool prizes✨
