I totally get it. I've done some basic recording and there's a lot of skills to master. Then you have to pay attention to multiple things whilst recording to get good takes. For most of us it's just not viable to get others to do the various jobs, but then a few years back we wouldn't have had all the facilities ourselves. I've probably got all the gear I really need, but have to learn how to use it. I hope you can have fun with the process.

I got invited to do a few shows so it might slow me down but that will be good practice for recording!
