Wohl eher ein deutsches Ding, falls die jungen Leute hier auf Hive jemals davon gehört haben - ich hab 1978 Rivers of Babylon kennenlernen dürfen, damals kein Vinyl sondern Music Cassette (Dinger mussten man in Geräte reinstecken und zuklappen - komplizierter als CDs später - alles vor Internet, Smartphone und so. Wahr kein Fan aber das Projekt war eines der wenig erfolgreichen weltweit - wenige wussten, dass dies auch noch aus dem Saarland kam - und Frank Farian (Produzent, davor im Schlager unterwegs) auch fast alles gespielt und männliche Stimmen gesungen hat, egal wer später auf der Bühne stand. Das war damals Skandal - er hatte später ein anderes Projekt wo es arger war. Heute ist das normal, keiner weiss wer wirkloch was singt, damals war es neu
Boney M - Pop Classic from Germany
I continue with Pop Classics - by definition difficult anyway - my focus older pop starting in the 1970ies - so we had Kool & the Gang as well as Abba - next one is a band produced from Germany, in the smallest territory called Saarland. Frank Farian who started in German Schlager invented the band / project - he produced, composed all and also did sing most male voice parts (no matter who performed on stage).
At that time is was new - kind of scandal later on but now seems common in the global music industry.

It achieved popularity during the disco era in the second half of the 1970s. The band was created by German record producer Frank Farian, who was the group's primary songwriter and singer. Originally based in West Germany, the four original members of the band's official line-up were Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett from Jamaica, Maizie Williams from Montserrat, and Bobby Farrell from Aruba. Ich oute mich hiermit als Fan von Boney M. Mit 10 Jahren waren das für mich die Größten. Und viele Lieder mag ich heute noch sehr. ;-)
Hey mein Freund - das überrascht sogar mich jetzt @andyjaypowell :-) - aber wir haben ja seit Jahrne ähnliche Ansätze.
Ja - ich fand die als Kind mega, dann kam Abba fand ich besser, dann Rock / Metal - dann Techno (als DJ und mehr was mich immer noch bewegt) - aber ich finde was alle Styles spannend zu hören und darüber zu lesen :-) - und jetzt is Boney M für mich irgendwie Kult wieder.

I was born just two years before the song Rasputin, but I know and love every single one of the songs you have just posted :) In fact we listened to Rasputin, Ma - Baker, Sunny and Daddy Cool with my wife and daughter just recently :)
