It doesn't always have to be New York / Es muss nicht immer New York sein.

If you mention the name Blue Note, everyone immediately thinks of the record label with the same name, which achieved international reputation with its outstanding jazz productions. However, there are also the Blue Note New York and the Blue Note Tokyo. Two venues for jazz lovers from all over the world.
Today I turn my attention to Blue Note Tokyo to introduce you to some musicians who are less known in our region.

Erwähnt man den Begriff Blue Note, denkt jeder sofort an das gleichnamige Plattenlabel, welches durch seine hervorragenden Jazz-Produktionen Weltruhm erlangte. Daneben gibt es jedoch auch noch das Blue Note New-York und das Blue Note Tokyo. Zwei Treffpunkte für Freunde des Jazz aus der ganzen Welt.
Heute gilt meine Aufmerksamkeit dem Blue Note Tokyo, um euch einige Musiker vorzustellen, die bei uns weniger bekannt sind.

Nao performed at her first major US music festival, Capital Jazz Fest, one of the largest festivals in the United States. In 2018 Nao moved her base back to the US and saw her 3rd album The Truth gain her auspicious achievements: #32 on the Billboard UAC chart, an album review by Rolling Stone Magazine and the Best International Artist award from the UK’s BRIGHT STAR AWARDS.

Nao trat erstmals beim US-Musikfestival auf, dem Capital Jazz Fest, einem der größten Festivals in den Vereinigten Staaten. Im Jahr 2018 verlegte Nao ihren Wohnsitz zurück in die USA und konnte mit ihrem dritten Album The Truth vielversprechende Erfolge verbuchen: Platz32 der Billboard UAC-Charts, eine Albumkritik des Rolling Stone Magazine und die Auszeichnung als beste internationale Künstlerin bei den BRIGHT STAR AWARDS in Großbritannien.

Since the band is formed, they have been collaborating with other musicians also. They made two music videos and the second video “WHAT IS HIP?” became huge hit particularly outside of Japan. On Juna’s YouTube channel, the video got one hundred thousand views within a month, and now hits 10000 subscribers! This shows that TOKYO GROOVE JYOSHI has been garnering attention.

Seit Gründung der Band haben sie immer wieder mit anderen Musikern zusammengearbeitet. Wirkliche Bekannheit erlangten sie mit dem zweiten Video "WHAT IS HIP?" Dies wurde vor allem außerhalb Japans ein großer Hit. Auf Junas YouTube-Kanal wurde das Video innerhalb eines Monats hunderttausend Mal angeschaut und hat jetzt 10000 Abonnenten! Das zeigt, dass TOKYO GROOVE JYOSHI Aufmerksamkeit erregt hat.

I couldn't really gather much information about Kurena Ishikawa. But her bass playing convinced me from the first moment. Therefore, her appearance at the Blue Note Tokyo is more than deserved.

Zu Kurena Ishikawa konnte ich nicht wirklich viele Informationen zusammentragen. Doch hat mich ihr Bass-Spiel vom ersten Moment an überzeugt. Daher ist ihr Auftritt im Blue Note Tokyo mehr als verdient.
