The AMITUOFO Token
Today, 20 Feb 2022, the AMITUOFO token is created on Hive-Engine.
The inspiration for this token creation is to allow manifestation of the name of Amitābha Buddha in the Hive blockchain space.
The recitation of the Buddha Amitābha's name is an integral part of the Pureland practice in Buddhism. It is said that the mere recitation of the Buddha's name brings immense benefits, and freedom from suffering by reborn at Buddha Amitābha's Pureland. For more information, the following wiki page may be useful. There are also excellent teachings on YouTube you can refer to.
The AMITUOFO token has a maximum supply of 9007199254740991, and are non-divisible. Every token is complete.
The initial token release to the circulating supply will be a tally of the times @mituoshizhe recited AMITUOFO（A-MI-TUO-FO 阿弥陀佛). From today, reciting AMITUOFO 9007199254740991 times so that all tokens can be released will be the goal of this lifetime for @mituoshizhe.
Once it is released into the circulating supply, it will be airdropped to accounts who have the karma to receive it, and hopefully further gifted to others who have the karma to receive it subsequently by the receivers. For as long as Hive blockchain survives, the organic circulation of this token would remains a good reminder of mindfulness of enlightenment and Buddhahood, through this Pureland practice of Buddha name recitation or what the Chinese would call nianfo（念佛）.
Whether the token will eventually be pegged to some monetary value is immaterial. We will let nature takes its own course. In the initial phase, if any hiver like to receive this token (since it is non-divisible, it can be treated as a collectible in itself), feel free to write a post about your own Buddhist practice or comment below.
