Best Strategy//Decluttering

in The MINIMALISTlast month

Hi my people, good day to you all. I have come to share my entry into this week's KISS prompt on the strategy I use in decluttering my space. To be candid, I am a kind of person that likes to keep stuff. I judiciously keep a lot, because I used to think, they would be useful someday. I keep various things, most especially clothes. You could find a 10 year old dress in my wardrobe. The most painful part is I used to scatter everything whenever I'm looking for things, no matter how I initially arranged it. Since, I started looking for things the whole house would get messy and cluttered.

I have tried several strategies to declutter my space but they weren't just working. At a time, I started burning the unused items in the house but I was not happy with the strategy anytime I remember what it cost me to get it. Many times, I rushed to pack in the clothes at the edge of burning, only to drop the lighter and cluttered everywhere again. Just last week, I resulted to giving out the unused items to people in need. It was something that I wasn't used with the way people used to discourage the act when I was little. So, they made us believe then that giving people things could harm us, as we don't other people's mind.

But my efforts to declutter my space changed my mindset. Now, my strategy is to give out the unused items to the people in need. I give out whatever I'm not using no matter how costly it is. And it gives me joy to see people make optimal use of it. I can now say the only thing in my wardrobe now are the clothes I wear. Also, you can no longer find 10years, 15year-cloth in my wardrobe again. If it is not needed, it is not kept. Giving out the unused items is my best strategy to declutter my space. I now have a well managed and freer space.

Thanks for reading.

That's great! It's never too late to do things better. Donating what you don't use is an excellent strategy and a commendable action. Best regards.
