Good morning everyone.
After few days of traveling I finally decided to make a post.. My husband, son and me were visiting our hometown..
The oldest town in Croatia - VINKOVCI.
The new settlement of Cibalae (Illyrian: hill) was founded by the Romans at the site of Hotel-Tržnica, when they began to systematically secure the border (limes) on the Danube for defense against barbarian tribes. The settlement was gradually Romanized and during the reign of Emperor Hadrian (117-138) it received the status of a municipium, Municipium Aelium Cibalae. The city most likely gained the status of a colony during the reign of Emperor Caracalla (196-217) and since then it has become Colonia Aurelia Cibalae. The city of Cibalae is of great importance for Roman history.

Josip Kozarac was born in Vinkovci, Austrian Empire. He studied forestry management in Vienna and later served as forestry official in Vinkovci.
He wrote stories, plays and novels. In them he showed great ability to portray Slavonian peasants and expressed his displeasure over the decay of Slavonian economy and foreigners taking over Croatian national wealth. His most well-known work is his novel, Mrtvi kapitali (1890). source

I hope you like these few images. I couldn't take more of them as WE were there for only 2 days. There isn't enough time to take pics and visiting family in that time.
