My friend recently texted me saying that friend of hers moved somewhere not far from where I live. She said that maybe we can meet and become friends.
I was a bit surprised. Why should we become friends, I thought. Would she even respond to my direct message, hm… What if she will think that it’s a scam. You know how people call nowadays and try scam people.
So I decided to do nothing about it on that day.
A few days later I thought of what’ve happened before and maybe I had a better mood, I thought, well, I can still try messaging and see what happens. So I texted that person who knows my friend.
Next day I didn’t get any messages, and the following day was the same, I thought, there you go, I was right. A few days after, when I have already forgotten about all this, she messaged me!
She said: - Hi, wow, the world is so small, it’s cool. Let’s meet by the beach tomorrow morning?
I was happy to see her response, seemed super friendly. We agreed to go to the beach. We met on the way to the beach entrance. We talked about people we know, and it seemed as we have known each other for years!
It was so exciting. I guess, she’s moved to my city a year ago and lived in a building next to mine for a whole year! How didn’t I know that?! If our mutual friend wouldn’t notice in her news feed that we post similar pictures of the ocean, we would have never ever meet!
I think it’s a pretty cool story to tell our kids in the future.
On that day it was a red and purple flag day, no swimming advised, because of the strong waves, but the ocean was beautiful.
We walked on the beach talked about life, then she offered to go to Starbucks. I still had time before I had to pick up my kids from their school, so we went there to sit down and rest from our long walk.
It’s so nice to meet a person who speaks my language and has a similar mindset, and beliefs. It’s like going back in my childhood or something similar.
It was one of the most peaceful walks in my life since my other friend was visiting me. I think people who ever had to immigrate to a different country with a completely different culture understand me. Friends with the same mindset are like gold and blessing from God. I hope you can find one real friend that you can openly talk to. When you don’t have to be afraid to be judged. It’s a real blessing.
