I was recently visiting one of the headquarters of an important higher education center here in Caracas, specifically the Simón Rodríguez Experimental University, located in the annex building of Inces, another Venezuelan educational institution that is in charge of training people to insert or specialized directly in the labor field.
Previously, the printing press of that institution worked in that building, so on the ground floor there is a permanent exhibition with several old machines related to the printing trade. These old machines, mostly made of wrought iron, recall one of the busiest times of the industrial era at the beginning of the 20th century, when the capitalist economic model was still based mainly on the production of industrial goods.
Iron was definitely quite a relevant resource. Some of these machines come from the main industrial centers where this metal was processed, the United States, France, England, Switzerland, Germany, among others.
This North American press by R. Hoes & Co. with the emblem of the Washington Press, is a classic in the sector, and although the original factory must be closed today, one of its models has been operating for more than 100 years in the city. from Boston, in the United States. Other brands that may sound familiar to people related to this trade are the French Clement, the Swiss Martini, and the American Horton.
I do not know the details of what the industrial printing processes are like today, where it is evident that screens and electronic devices are increasingly prevalent over traditional paper.
In my country, the print edition of newspapers has greatly decreased in circulation, some have even disappeared in the last decade, and the scene of people reading the newspaper on the street is no longer so common, perhaps it is a reality that is beginning to spread in other countries.
That is something that I remember as a child, also in my house and in my grandparents' house there was never a lack of newspapers, so at that time it was the main means of information, even above the newscasts that barely 1 hour of summary were dedicated to them of news.
Definitely, this began to be replaced later with TV channels dedicated to 24-hour news and later they also jumped to social networks, which in my opinion are the main information channel at this time. To the point that the large national and international news channels have a wide presence in the networks to be able to capture the largest number of users.
I believe that this has significantly changed the way in which we inform ourselves about news events in recent generations, beyond the change in format, there is also a substantial change in how information circulates from different directions and according to different niches of interest.

Viejas imprentas.
Hace poco estuve de visita en una de las sedes de un importante centro de educación superior aquí en Caracas, específicamente la Universidad Experimental Simón Rodríguez, ubicada en el edificio anexo del Inces, otra institución educativa venezolana que se encarga de capacitación de personas para insertarlas o especializadas directamente en el campo laboral.
Anteriormente, en ese edificio funcionaba la imprenta de esa institución, por lo cual en la planta baja hay una exposición permanente con varias máquinas antiguas relacionadas con el oficio de la imprenta.
Estas antiguas máquinas fabricadas en su mayoría en hierro forjado, recuerdan una de las épocas de mayor efervescencia de la era industrial de principios de siglo XX, cuando todavía el modelo económico capitalista se basaba principalmente en la producción de bienes industriales.
El hierro definitivamente era un recurso bastante relevante. Algunas de estas máquinas provienen de los principales centros industriales donde se procesaba este metal, Estados Unidos, Francia, Inglaterra, Suiza, Alemania, entre otros.
Esta prensa norteamericana de R. Hoes & Co. con el emblema del Washington Press, es un clásico en el sector, y aunque la fábrica original debe estar cerrada en la actualidad, uno de sus modelos detento funcionar por más de 100 años en la ciudad de Boston, en Estados Unidos.
Otras marcas que quizás suenen conocida para personas afines a este oficio son la francesa Clement, la Suiza Martini, y la estadounidense Horton.
Desconozco los detalles de cómo son los procesos industriales de impresión hoy día, donde es evidente que cada vez hay más predominio de las pantallas y dispositivos electrónicos sobre el tradicional papel.
En mi país los periódicos en su edición impresa disminuyeron muchísimo en tiraje, algunos incluso desaparecieron la última década, y ya no es tan común la escena de personas leyendo el periódico en la calle, quizás sea una realidad que empieza a generalizarse en otros países.
Eso es algo que recuerdo de niño, además en mi casa y en casa de mis abuelos nunca faltaba el periódico, así que en esa época era el principal medio de información, inclusive por encima de los telediarios que apenas se les dedicaba 1 hora de resumen de noticias.
Definitivamente, esto empieza a suplirse luego con canales de TV dedicados a 24 horas de noticias y posteriormente saltaron también a las redes sociales que a mí parecer son el principal canal de información en esta época.
Al punto que las grandes cadenas de noticias tanto nacionales como internacionales tienen amplia presencia en las redes para poder captar la mayor cantidad de usuarios.
Creo que esto ha cambiado significativamente la forma en que nos informamos sobre hechos noticiosos en las últimas generaciones, más allá del cambio del formato, también hay un cambio sustancial en como circula la información desde distintas direcciones y según los distintos nichos de interés.
