The three words that came to mind were: naturalness, life and history, and those portraits say so much about a person. I loved them. Now, when you talk about natural landscapes without so much human intervention, it's wonderful, especially the snow, although being cooped up for so long must be stressful.
The photo of the walnuts, the lady trying to get them down... it reminded me that I did the same thing when I was a child and teenager. Thank you!
I like to call it untouched nature. Yes, being stranded in the house is tough, but these people are working on fixing things for the gardening season, so no lazying around for them.
About the walnut process, many do that here as well, it's the fastest way to get he walnuts off the tree.
I couldn't just sit around doing nothing... I can't! I would look for tasks and more tasks... Nuts are delicious, nut cakes!
Trust me, those people are used to working all their lives and they are using winter to do what they can't during summer.
