For example, this cat. He's smart enough. I watched him in Chersonesos, when we were resting on a bench in the shade of cypresses.
As soon as we sat down, he decided to visit us. Leaving the former tourists (apparently they stopped treating him there), he busily headed in our direction.
We weren't ready for guests and we didn't have any cat treats. The cat quickly realized this ... and showed us his offended ass. But there was no sense in returning to another bench. He sat down halfway and began to look around contemptuously. His eyes spoke instead of a tongue.
Вот, к примеру, этот кот. Он достаточно умён. Я наблюдал за ним в Херсонесе, когда мы отдыхали на скамье в тени кипарисов.
Как только мы сели, он решил нас навестить. Оставив прежних туристов (видимо там его перестали угощать), он деловито направился в нашу сторону.
Мы не были готовы к гостям и у нас не было никаких кошачьих угощений. Кот быстро это понял...и показал нам свой обиженный зад. Но и возвращаться к другой скамейке смыла не было. Он сел на пол пути и стал презрительно оглядываться. Его глаза говорили вместо языка.
This cat didn't ask for anything. The heat of the day ravaged his body. Considering that this is a kitchen window, the cat was not hungry at all. But I saw some interest in his gaze.
Этот кот ничего не просил. Дневная жара разморила его тело. С учётом того, что это окно кухни, котяра был совсем не голоден. Но какой-то интерес я увидел в его взгляде.
The same cannot be said for the next kitten. Standing at the open door of a grocery store, he clearly dreamed of cleaning up its shelves. But he was too young and inexperienced. Let's wish him good luck.
Этого не скажешь про следующего котёнка. Стоя у открытой двери продуктового магазина, он явно мечтал навести порядок на его полках. Но он был слишком юн и неопытен. Пожелаем ему удачи.
This, of course, is not all the cats I met on the streets and in the courtyards of Sevastopol. There were other meetings as well. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
