Hike to Chersonese (visual story 19 photos)

in Photography Lovers2 years ago

This time I'll start with the last photo. You see the ruins of the gate in the stone wall that surrounded the ancient city of Chersonese. These gates are located at the very edge of the sea. Perhaps earlier this edge was a little further and the waves for many years simply made an attack on the shore. But as you can see, there was no free passage to the territory of the city.

There is no free passage now, but for a different reason - you will have to buy an entrance ticket. 40 years ago, when I was there for the last time, there was such a passage and much was different. But I got ahead of myself and it's time to clean up.

As I said, after going down the hill we took a bus so as not to walk in the heat for a long time. But we did not go to the main entrance to Chersonese, but decided to first swim and then walk along the coast to the ruins. This is the city beach "Solnechny", it was 40 years ago and little has changed here. Unexpected was a new wall, which rested on the sea. Not that ancient wall, the ruins of which we saw in 1 photo. It was a new wall and there was nowhere to go through it.

It was possible, of course, to climb over, but no one knew what awaited her. Surely there are surveillance cameras and there is security. The mood was spoiled.

This is how the gates of the ancient wall look from the beach side. If it wasn't for the camera, I could have just sailed the sea around that damn wall...how pissed I was.

We had to climb up into the sunshine to find that damn checkpoint...

I did not take pictures of him, we just gave the money passed by. Now we had to go along the same sun, but almost in the opposite direction.

See the beach below? Yes, that's where we were some time ago. We had to make a good loop instead of just walking along the coast.

But on the other hand, we saw the ruins of the city wall from the side of the "steppe" zone, and earlier we just walked along the sea.

Here, too, a strange find awaited us. I don't remember it being here before.

It seems that underground is no less interesting than on the surface. But you can’t just go there ... even with an entrance ticket.

And so that you can better imagine the size of this wall and gate, I will show you a photo with my beautiful companion.
Now it remains for us to enter the land of Chersonese itself, but this is for the next time.

The photos remind me of coming of age movies that is set in the late '80s and early '90s

Oddly enough, nothing has changed outwardly in this place in 40 years of my absence. Here are just a new wall and built. There are more changes in Chersonese itself
Thanks for the comment)

it's a good thing that the scenery is preserved. It is a place where you can bring your kids and future grandkids. You can always say that it is still the place from your childhood.

If nothing else, the ruins are really neat! Sucks that it was turned into a profit zone though.

I agree, it's sad when business gets dirty hands into our lives
