It is very important to have a reservoir near the place of rest. Perhaps that is why some people want to relax on the sea, on the shore of a lake or river. St. Petersburg is located in the Neva Delta. On the one hand, there are many separate rivers and canals that form a delta, and on the other, it is the border with the Baltic Sea.
This park is called - Primorskiy (seaside). This is one of the oldest parks in the city. Maybe in ancient times it was just a wasteland. Perhaps this happened as a result of the lowering of the Baltic Plate, when the city was flooded with water and badly damaged. This period is not recorded in the official history.
Over time, the Baltic Plate partially rose, and the Neva was formed, which was a channel between Lake Ladoga and the Baltic Sea. Lake Ladoga is sometimes called the sea even now, apparently earlier it was just a part of the Baltic Sea, and the channel of the Neva River coincides with the crack of the Baltic Plate fault.
You can call it my fantasies and you will be partially right. I was not present at those distant events and can only build hypotheses. Yes, this is my hypothesis. By the way, Kronstadt (Kotlin Island) and the current forts were also once part of St. Petersburg, and between them under water you can find that part of the city that never rose above the water level.
But back to Seaside Park.
This is one of the old buildings. I don't think it survived the flood. Most likely it was restored or rebuilt on the old foundation.
As you can see, there is still a lot of water here. This is good for the park, as it creates picturesque landscapes.
I was lucky to meet a squirrel and a crow. Both of them were not very happy with our meeting. The squirrel quickly rose from the ground to the tree with its prey, and the crow just flew away. Ravens don't like to pose at all.
And here is a residential elite house. Previously, an old building with columns stood on this site. The restaurant "Vostok" was located there and it was a very pleasant almost cult place. Walking through the park, you could go there and have a tasty snack. I don't know how anyone got permission to build an apartment building in the park. But in those years (immediately after the collapse of the USSR) a lot of things were violated in favor of the new rich class. But let's not talk about sad things.
Having rounded a rather large pond, we will now come to the banks of the Neva.
Not so long ago it was an ordinary wild coast overgrown with bushes and heavily littered. Now it is a relatively new recreation area with beautiful views of the Neva. There are paths made of boards, wide decks with sun loungers, you can have a good time here.
Imagine yourself there and enjoy.
It remains for me to show you how spring is increasingly asserting its rights. There are no foliage on the trees yet, but the young grass is already bringing a green palette to the overall picture.
