Good day, wonderful people. How are you? What is hiding in front of your lenses today? For me, it's some of the usual plants for this time of year that grow around our pond and undoubtedly beautify it. It's spring here, for a few days already according to the calendar , but a lot of rainy days since it started, so the pictures are a bit more gloomy, but that won't spoil their integrated cheerfulness. And please don't mind my funny sentence construction, English is not my native language, as you can clearly see. :D So, let's begin. 💬
I don't know much about these, but I'll try to leave the names in Latin that I of course googled beforehand, hehe. Enjoy in this small presentation.
Glechoma hederacea - commonly known as ground-ivy, gill-over-the-ground, creeping charlie, alehoof, tunhoof, catsfoot, field balm, and run-away-robin. Funny names, don't ya think?
Hedera helix - common ivy, European ivy, King's Choice ivy, or just ivy. One more ivy, interesting, ha? In Serbia we say "bršljan" for this one.
This tree is Willow, but I am not sure which one, so I would say probably salix babylonica. What do you think, is it?
Maybe it will be a little tough for you to recognize it, here I twisted three branches into a braid, cause I am trying to suppress their growth a little since they progress quite quickly and close the whole pond, so we can't fish undisturbed because of the milion of branches all around. 😁
Capsella bursa-pastoris, known as shepherd's purse because of its triangular flat fruits, which are purse-like. In our childhood we must have picked it and plucked its heart-shaped leaves while saying “should I, should I not” or “loves me, loves me not”. Do you have it in your culture or smth similiar to this? I would like to hear it.
To be honest, I don't know if I've ever noticed this plant before, but it's very interesting with these tiny white delicate flowers. Google and Wikipedia says it is Stellaria media or chickweed.
The well-known dandelion in its full yellow splendor and beauty. Taraxacum officinale flowers are used to make dandelion wine the greens are used in salads (I love this salad), the roots have been used to make a coffee substitute (when baked and ground into powder) and it can also be used as a natural medicine.
Another beautiful plant that is abundant around our pond is Lamium purpureum. And while I was setting myself up to take the best picture of it in order to show you this beauty live, a bumblebee interrupted me. Landed on one of these and treated himself to wonderful nectars.
There are 250 species in the genus Bombus, so I will let you to decide which one is this black and orange hairy cutie. ⋆˚🐝˖°
I wish everyone a nice day and thank you for reading this funny composition as elementary school student wrote it for a homework. Love ya all. ˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗
These are really beautifully shot. Your fish pond looks so peaceful. With all those nice flowers I am sure that bee will have a lot of work to do. Thank you for sharing! :)
Thank you for such a nice comment. <3
