Local winter photography

It seems as though our recent arctic weather has come to an end here in Vancouver. While this has made many Vancouver residents happy it is a little sad for me as winter has to be one of my favorite times to shoot. Fresh snow transforms the land into a dream-like pristine landscape straight out of a story book. The snow and ice makes for cleaner and less complicated compositions and reflects the light much better resulting in everything being a little more cohesive and magical. Here are a few local winter winter shots located around Vancouver.

Good gosh Blake.. You had a hell of a day on Seymour there. I was just hiking in that area this past weekend dreaming of how I could shoot the trees covered in all that snow... and here you are absolutely blowing me away with some incredibly well shot frames. Fantastic eye for both composition and post process there.

Thanks man, it definitely took a couple of trips up there to get a few keepers but it's a beautiful spot

You have me even more convinced to do an overnight there this next month now

Love the mood and tones in this series! Beautiful work!

These waterfall shots are drop dead gorgeous! And what magical snowy landscapes, those trees look like something from a Dr. Seuss book! Truly from a fairy tale. And I'm also in agreement that winter offers some of the most amazing photography scenes. Thank you for sharing these beauties!

Thanks Jess, it does indeed look like Dr seuss 😁

I was staring very hard at the first image trying to work out if that was a normal tree from far away or a buried tree. Looked at next few images, definitely buried tree.

Amazing shots, looks way too cold for me there XD

Thanks! I think the snow was at least 2m deep here so definitely half buried

what a beautiful panorama you managed to capture.

I wish winter photography was this good in Utah! Awesome images!

haha, you guys might not have the snow but you definitely have some pretty amazing rock formations

Oh we get plenty of snow here in northern Utah, we just don't have the pretty backcountry like this, well maybe we do, I just don't go to those places, haha. I need to get out more. ;)

That is true, I saw a pretty incredible shot of Bryce Canyon the other day with snow. It looked amazing

Love the atmosphere of those shots, great work!
