At the end of last summer, I managed to escape to the city center to take a walk and take pictures. My main hope was for the sunset, but there was no beautiful light due to the strong cloudiness. However, this did not prevent me from taking many photos that I want to share today.
My walk began near St. Isaac's Cathedral. Here I left my car and headed towards the embankment of the Neva River. The dome of the cathedral is visible on the left. Unfortunately, I did not go to the cathedral and did not take more detailed photos.
The first thing that caught my attention was a beautiful old building with columns. Now this building houses the Yeltsin Presidential Library and the Constitutional Court of Russia.
Another look at the beautiful dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral. On the left in the frame is an element of a lamppost.
The building that houses the Presidential Library is very large and in the middle of its facade there is a large, beautiful arch.
Under this arch is the entrance to Galernaya Street. All buildings here have been restored. It can be a pleasure to walk on the stone cobblestones of this quiet and peaceful street. But the embankment was my goal.
Opposite the Constitutional Court there is a monument to Peter the Great.
And a little further you can see the embankment of the Neva, where you can already see many tourists. Here I crossed the street.
Crossing the street, I went to the monument to Peter the Great - the Russian Emperor, the founder of the city of St. Petersburg. This monument is also called the bronze horseman.
Another view of the monument, where the dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral is visible in the background again above the trees.
Here, in front of the cathedral, there is a large green lawn on which tourists and city residents rest.
And I went further towards Palace Square along the Admiralteyskaya embankment.
The Main Admiralty is located on this embankment. The photo below shows one small part of the Admiralty building with a large gate.
And the road from this building leads to the Palace Square.
Here I crossed the street and went out to the walking part of the embankment.
In the distance, one could already see the Palace Bridge and the spire of the Peter and Paul Cathedral, which is located in the Peter and Paul Fortress.
One more look back.
From the granite embankment, I returned to the road because I was attracted by the beautiful flowers along the road. It looks like violets.
I decided to take a few shots with flowers, because they decorate the city great.
I must say that for lovers of architecture, the center of St. Petersburg can be an excellent place for walking. After all, each house on the embankments of the Neva is a separate palace with a beautiful facade.
This building and the building in the photo above are practically adjacent.
After going along the entire Admiralty embankment, I reached the Palace Bridge, opposite which there was another gate of the Main Admiralty.
Here you can clearly see the gate itself.
At this point I will finish my story about my walk. But there will be another part ahead, where I will continue my journey along the Neva along the Palace Embankment.
I strongly recommend to open the photo in a separate tab to appreciate it.
Your 22 photos of St. Petersburg are really inspiring me to re-visit this beautiful city again.
