Hello HIVEs
The other day I was rummaging around in a box in the attic. I came across some old x-rays. They must be over 30 years old by now. Nowadays you only get to see pictures on electronic storage media. Among other things, there were some top-view images of my head. Each image penetrates deeper into the head. Very interesting, I thought to myself and was immediately inspired and took the pictures back to the studio.
I sat down at my desk, took a sheet of paper and started to develop a concept. After a short time, I thought of the Talking Heads. Let's get started!
Neulich kramte ich mal wieder in einer Kiste auf dem Dachboden rum. Da fielen mir ein paar alte Röntgenbilder in die Hand. Die dürften mittlerweile schon über 30 Jahre alt sein. Heute bekommt man nur noch Bilder auf elektronischen Speichermedien zu sehen. Unter anderem befanden sich dort einige Aufnahmen meines Kopfes in der Draufsicht. Jede Aufnahme dringt tiefer in den Kopf ein. Sehr interessant, dachte ich mir und war sofort inspiriert und nahm die Aufnahmen mit ins Studio. Ich setzte mich an den Schreibtisch, nahm mir ein Blatt Papier und fing an ein Konzept zu entwickeln. Nach kurzer Zeit kamen mir die Quatschköpfe in den Sinn. Na dann mal los!

The first head on the cover picture is still holding a monologue. You can see the X-ray image, which I clamped in a frame about 40 cm in front of the camera and attached to a tripod with the help of a clamp.
Using black fiberglass on a Magilight, I stroked the X-ray image from behind. Various color modes can be set on the Magilight from FOTORGEAR. For the cover picture I used the color Rainbow in Gradient mode.
Der erste Kopf auf dem dem Titelbild hält noch einen Monolog. Zu sehen ist das Röntgenbild, welches ich zirka 40 cm vor die Kamera in einem Rahmen eingespannt, mit Hilfe einer Klemme an einem Stativ befestigt habe.
Mit schwarzem Glasfiber an einer Magilight strich ich von hinten über das Röntgenbild. An der Magilight von FOTORGEAR sind verschiedene Farbmodi einstellbar. Für das Titelbild habe ich die Farbe Rainbow im Modus Gradient verwendet.

In the next picture, the nonsense heads are already engaged in a dialog. The set is as described above. The camera was rotated by 180° during the exposure on a CRT (Camera Rotation Tool) and the color mode of the Magilight was changed to orange or cyan.
Auf dem nächsten Bild treten die Quatschköpfe schon in einen Dialog. Das Set ist wie oben beschrieben. Die Kamera wurde hier während der Aufnahme auf einem CRT (Camera Rotation Tool) um 180° gedreht und der Farbmodus der Magilight auf orange bzw. cyan gewechselt.

Now two more talking heads joined us and a lively discussion ensued. It was a hot topic. This can cause blood pressure to rise and heads to turn red. The CRT was also used here. The camera rotated in 90° increments.
Nun gesellten sich noch zwei Quatschköpfe hinzu und es entstand eine lebhafte Diskussion. Es war ein heisses Thema. Dabei kann schon mal der Blutdruck steigen und die Köpfe färben sich rot. Auch hier kam das CRT zum Einsatz. Die Kamera rotierte hier in 90° -Schritten.

Not everyone can cope with other people's opinions and a negative attitude follows. You can see this in the picture above. The procedure was as described in picture two.
Nicht jeder kommt mit der Meinung anderer Menschen klar und es folgt eine Ablehnende Haltung. Zu sehen im obigen Bild. Die Vorgehensweise erfolgte wie unter Bild zwei beschrieben.

The pictures above and below show a dialog that takes place using threats or violence. I call the pictures "interrogation". I have used the zoom to make the side wielding the power slightly larger. Otherwise, nothing has been changed in the procedure or set.
Die Bilder oben und unten zeigen einen Dialog, der unter Einsatz von Drohungen oder Gewalt stattfindet. Ich nenne die Bilder "Verhör". Die machtausführende Seite habe ich mit dem Zoom etwas größer dargestellt. Ansonsten wurde nichts am Vorgehen oder Set verändert.

In the following picture, I would like to depict a secret dialog. The Talking Heads do not look at each other while they are communicating so as not to attract attention. The transfer of information happens in passing, so to speak. Set and procedure as described in picture two.
Im folgenden Bild möchte ich einen geheimen Dialog darstellen. Die Quatschköpfe schauen sich nicht an, während sie kommunizieren, um keine Aufmerksamkeit zu erregen. Die Informationsübermittlung geschieht quasi im Vorbeigehen. Set und Vorgehensweise wie im Bild zwei beschrieben.

Sehr viel Zuneigung zeigen die beiden Liebenden im folgenden Bild. Set und Vorgehensweise wie im Bild zwei beschrieben.

Finally, I show a rally. Here I used a tilt-shift lens to show the audience side by side. After rotating the camera 180° around the optical axis, I placed the speaker in the picture.
After a bit of fiddling, it worked quite well, if I hadn't run into the tripod three times during the shot.
On the fourth attempt, the picture was finally in the can.
Zum Schluss zeige ich eine Kundgebung. Hier setzte ich ein Tilt-Shift-Objektiv ein, um die Zuhörer nebeneinander darzustellen. Nach der 180°-Rotation der Kamera um die Optische Achse, setzte ich den Redner ins Bild. Nach einem bisschen Fummelei klappte das ganz gut, wenn ich nicht während der Aufnahme dreimal gegen das Stativ gerannt wäre. Beim vierten Versuch war das Bild dann schließlich im Kasten.

The Set
As always, I'll show the set at the end. As described above, it was relatively simple. To be honest, I've acquired a taste for it. I may well use more x-rays for a light painting.

Wie immer zeige ich zum Schluss das Set. Wie oben beschrieben, war es relativ simpel. Ehrlich gesagt, bin ich auf den Geschmack gekommen. Es kann gut sein, dass ich weitere Röntgenbilder für ein Lightpainting verwende.

The Set
What Is Light Painting?
Light painting is a unique art form. As a rule, the darkness is illuminated by the artist with various light sources and traces of light are painted into the picture with various lighting tools. Various techniques are used, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. When using ND filters, this technique can also be used in daylight. All images were taken during a single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cropping and possibly adjusting the white balance, the images are not processed on the computer.
Lichtmalerei ist eine einzigartige Kunstform. In der Regel wird die Dunkelheit mit diversen Lichtquellen vom Künstler ausgeleuchtet und Lichtspuren mit diversen Lichtwerkzeugen ins Bild gemalt. Dabei kommen verschiedene Techniken zum Einsatz, wie Kamerarotation oder andere Bewegungen der Kamera während der Belichtung. Die kreativen Möglichkeiten sind nahezu unbegrenzt. Bei Einsatz von ND-Filtern kann diese Technik auch bei Tageslicht angewendet werden. Alle Bilder wurden während einer einzigen Belichtung aufgenommen. Abgesehen vom Entrauschen, Schärfen, Beschneiden und eventuellem Anpassen des Weißabgleichs werden die Bilder nicht am Computer bearbeitet.
