Hello HIVEs!
On a weekend in April I met @lichtkunstfoto, @stepko, @gunnarheilmann, Hans, Anja and Matthias at a former Soviet airfield for light painting. The weather was so bad that no light painting was possible outside. Even in all the dilapidated buildings, the rain dripped through the ceilings everywhere. So we looked for one of the few dry spots on the site.
An einem Wochenende im April traf ich mich mit @lichtkunstfoto, @stepko, @gunnarheilmann, Hans, Anja und Matthias auf einem ehemaligen Sowjetischen Flugplatz zum Light-Painting. Das Wetter war so schlecht, dass draußen kein Lightpainting möglich war. Selbst in all den maroden Gebäuden tropfte der Regen überall durch die Decken. Also suchten wir uns einen der wenigen trockenen Flecken auf dem Gelände.

One of these more or less dry locations was a vault in the basement of a building, on the very edge of the huge former Soviet Army compound. There the water was a few centimeters high in some places, but it was protected from the wind and rain there. In the image below, I illuminated the vault with an EMISAR D18 by positioning myself behind each pillar and turning on the lamp for a second or two. From the outside, however, too much light penetrated into the room. So I still had enough time to prepare my rotation tool to realize my picture idea.
Eine dieser mehr oder weniger trockenen Locations war ein Gewölbe im Keller eines Gebäudes, ganz am Rande des riesigen ehemaligen Militärgeländes der sowjetischen Armee. Dort stand das Wasser zwar an einigen Stellen einige Zentimeter hoch, aber es war Wind und Regengeschützt dort. Im Bild unten habe ich das Gewölbe mit einer EMISAR D18 beleuchtet, indem ich mich jeweils hinter die Pfeiler positioniert habe und die Lampe für ein bis zwei Sekunden einschaltete. Von aussen drang jedoch noch zu viel Licht in den Raum. So hatte ich noch genügend Zeit, mein Rotations-Tool vorzubereiten, um meine Bildidee zu verwirklichen.

The Rotation Tool
I have already presented the
rotation tool here. It features a Manfrotto quick-release plate so you can quickly and easily mount the tool on a tripod. In the image below I show the tool mounted on a tripod with an Ants On A Melon RGB CRITTER and an oval DIY blade. I can operate the tool with the help of my smartphone via a web server.

hier bereits vorgestellt. Es verfügt über eine Manfrotto Schnellwechselplatte, so dass man das Tool schnell und einfach auf einem Stativ montieren kann. Im Bild unten zeige ich das auf dem Stativ montierte Tool mit einer Ants On A Melon RGB CRITTER und einem ovalen DIY-Blade. Das Tool kann ich mit Hilfe meines Smartphones über einen WEB-Server bedienen.

The Workflow
After I positioned the rotation tool appropriately in the middle of the picture, switched on the flashlight and the camera turned on, I let the tool rotate, uncovered the lens and after two rotations of the tool coverd the lens again, rotated the camera on the CRT (Camera Rotation Tool ) by 60° and repeated until I had rotated the camera 360°. Then I covered the lens again, removed the rotation tool from the scene, positioned the camera at 0°, uncovered the lens again, illuminated the vault with an EMISAR D18 and attached back-light scanner, which Sven kindly printed for me, out of. Then I rotated the camera 180° with the CRT and repeated the action with the EMISAR and the backlight scanner. So I had the cover picture in the box.
Nachdem ich die Rotationshilfe passend in die Mitte des Bildes positioniert, die Taschenlampe eingeschaltet hatte und die Kamera lief, ließ ich das Tool rotieren, deckte das Objektiv auf und nach zwei Umdrehungen des Tools wieder zu, drehte die Kamera auf dem CRT (Camera Rotation Tool) um 60° und wiederholte das, bis ich die Kamera 360° gedreht hatte. Dann bedeckte ich das Objektiv wieder, entfernte das Rotationstool aus der Szene, positionierte die Kamera auf 0°, deckte das Objektiv wieder auf, beleuchtete das Gewölbe mit einer EMISAR D18 und aufgesteckten Back-Light-Scanner, .den mir Sven freundlicherweise gedruckt hat, aus. Danach Drehte ich die Kamera mit dem CRT um 180° und wiederholte die Aktion mit der EMISAR und dem Backlight-Scanner. Damit hatte ich das Titelbild im Kasten.

What Is Light Painting?
Light painting is a unique art form. As a rule, the darkness is illuminated by the artist with various light sources and traces of light are painted into the picture with various lighting tools. Various techniques are used, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. When using ND filters, this technique can also be used in daylight. All images were taken during a single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cropping and possibly adjusting the white balance, the images are not processed on the computer.
Lichtmalerei ist eine einzigartige Kunstform. In der Regel wird die Dunkelheit mit diversen Lichtquellen vom Künstler ausgeleuchtet und Lichtspuren mit diversen Lichtwerkzeugen ins Bild gemalt. Dabei kommen verschiedene Techniken zum Einsatz, wie Kamerarotation oder andere Bewegungen der Kamera während der Belichtung. Die kreativen Möglichkeiten sind nahezu unbegrenzt. Bei Einsatz von ND-Filtern kann diese Technik auch bei Tageslicht angewand werden. Alle Bilder wurden während einer einzigen Belichtung aufgenommen. Abgesehen vom Entrauschen, Schärfen, Beschneiden und eventuellem Anpassen des Weißabgleichs werden die Bilder nicht am Computer bearbeitet.
